POLL: Which DC Comics Character Has Been Represented Best Onscreen?

POLL: Which DC Comics Character Has Been Represented Best Onscreen?

You have chosen your favorite X-Man and your favorite Marvel studios character. Now vote for the best representation of a DC character from a WB movie..

Feature Opinion

As we all know WB/DC Entertainment have only really adapted a handful of characters from the main DCU, but have done so quite a few times. So to keep the numbers down I have left out a couple of the Batman movies (I'm sure you can guess which ones) and restricted the list to main DCU characters only-no Watchmen, Jonah Hex or Vertigo etc. Vote away.

Any and all calls to add Arnold Schwarzenegger's Mr Freeze to the list will be laughed at then ignored. Seriously though, if you are missing someone from either of Joel Schumaker's Batman flicks (Jim Carrey wasn't a bad Riddler to be fair) let me know and we can have a good ol giggle about it.

Reeve or Ledger. I'll go with Reeve since the Joker that Ledger played wasnt the Joker from the comics.

My vote was for Reeve. hes the obvious choice. perfect portrail as Clark Kent/Superman. Henery Cavil has a lot to live up to...

if i had a second vote it would definatly go to Gary Oldman as Jim Gordon. Great actor who really nailed the part. then my #3 vote of course would go to Heath Ledgers version of the Joker. and Christian Bale in a close 4th as Batman

I would have chosen Jackie Earl Hailey as Rorschach, but that was left out of the list for some reason (easily one of DC's best movies).

I also would have chosen Gary Oldman as Jim Gordon, but he's not really like the comic version at all (Jim Gordon in the comics is a militant, gruff, not-a-weakling, tough guy... Gary Oldman, with respect to his amazing acting, portrays Gordon in a different light)

So I just chose Christian Bale as Batman, one of my favorite performances on screen.

hmmmm this poll doesnt make sense.....the majority of these options dont give us anything else to compare them to....for instance Vicky Vale.....I LOVE BASINGER....but who else has played the part? No one....i cant say that BASINGER gave the best performance of that character ....she gave the ONLY performance fo the character... Am i wrong?

My vote goes to Aaron Eckhart for Harvey Dent/Two-Face
even though his portrayal of the character was short lived, he is very underrated in TDK. He owned that role.

@ror

I know these movies and parts sucked, but why don't you have Batman Forever or Batman and Robin actors/characters on there?? doesn't seem fair to me. or did you JUST get the best roles?

My Grandma and Mom are currently arguing over who is the best Superman: George Reeves VS Christopher Reeves.

They've pretty much gained a couple cool points in my book.

I wish I had looked over at them and pulled a Kanye West.

"Guys I'm really happy for you, I'm gonna let you finish, but Henry Cavil will be the best Superman of all time."

@ReverendJonnyNemo, Don't worry about it, I was actually wondering if I had spelled it right anyway.

Voted Chris Reeve, the best Superman to date (hopefully that will change soon), even though "his" sequels deteriorated rapidly.

LOVED Heath as Joker, but I still think a more "definitive" version is yet to come, neither Heath or Jack really made the character from the comics "leap out of the page" like Chris Reeve did.

Heck, Reeve was "more" Superman than any of the comics versions had been at the time.
naterator
naterator - 8/17/2011, 10:22 AM
the poll should be reduced to:

Christopher Reeve as Superman
Brandon Routh as Superman
Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor
Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor
Margot Kidder as Lois Lane
Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane
Michael Keaton as Batman
Christian Bale as Batman
Jack Nicholson as The Joker
Heath Ledger as The Joker
Michael Gough as Alfred Pennyworth
Michael Caine as Alfred Pennyworth
Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman
Halle Berry as Catwoman
Pat Hingle as Jim Gordon
Gary Oldman as Jim Gordon
Billy Dee Williams as Harvey Dent
Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent

Everyone else on the list has only been portrayed once on screen. Oh and i added a few that were left off.

I Voted Gary Oldman, he played Gordon Damn near exactly how he is in the comics...Reeves would be second and everyone else blah....

Ledger's Joker is my Favorite performance up there though!
reverendjonnynemo
reverendjonnynemo - 8/17/2011, 10:25 AM
@Naterator

Halle Berry? Seriously?

What about Teri Hatcher's Lois, or even Noell Niell... she captured the era's Lois perfectly.

And Mark Strong's Sinestro is definitive in my opinion, even if Reynold's Jordan was lacking.

Pat Hingle, while a fine actor was not Jim Gordon. Oldman's Gordon was *the* definitive portrayal of that character.

Reeve was fine at Superman, but it was not like it was an amazing performance or anything. The movies were bland and boring as well as the character being conveyed.

Jack Nicholson as Joker = Winning

riddlemethis09 - 8/17/2011, 10:40 AM
naterator@ the poll isn't comparing different portrayals of individual characters, it is referring to the best overall portrayal of any character. its not spacey vs. hackman for lex, etc.
on another note, i wish i could vote micahel rosenbaum for lex luthor from smallville. though the series went downhill, the episode called "onyx" portrayrd him excellently.

I haven't voted myself yet, there were some truly great performances. Reeve is an obvious choice, but there is also Eckhart..I actually think his Dent/Teo-Face was one of the best acted AND faithful to the comics.

I was gonna say none, but I saw Keaton so I voted for him, but then I saw the results and saw that I could have voted for Ledger if I wasn't so rash. those are the only two worth voting for, Bale is OK but his batman voice is just FAH. KING. STEW. POD.

I stand by my vote.
niceguyeddie
niceguyeddie - 8/17/2011, 10:46 AM
Reeve owns as superman. Bale is great as Bruce Wayne but is lacking as ol' gravel throat batman. Oldman is Gordon to a T. honorable mention to Mark Strong as Sinestro (possibly the movie's only saving grace)

Reeve then Oldman... then the rest. And the distance between 2 and 3 isn't close.

Heath Ledger as The Joker
