COMICS: Do Bruce & Selina Tie The Knot? The Outcome Of BATMAN #50 Has Been Revealed - SPOILERS Ahead

Ever since Bruce popped the question, fans have been wondering if Batman and Catwoman would actually get married, and now that question has been answered before the release of Batman #50 this Wednesday...

Last year, writer Tom King took the relationship between the billionaire vigilante Bruce Wayne and the feline cat burglar Selina Kyle to an unexpected place, as Bruce proposed to Selina. Since that moment, fans have been keeping up with the adventures of Batman and Catwoman, waiting anxiously for the big wedding issue.

However, fans don’t have to wait any longer as the outcome of Batman #50 has been revealed ahead of its release this Wednesday, thanks to an article from the New York Times.

In the article, we learn Bruce and Selina will not tie the knot, a decision that is sure to stir up some strong reactions from fans. This outcome came after the couple expressed some doubts, with Bruce wondering if he can be happy and Selina asking herself if she is a hero. The two answered these questions in a pair of letters they’ve written for each other, which also demonstrate how the two have developed as characters.

“You’re not someone who can be figured out. Or solved. And never will be,” Batman apparently writes in his correspondence before adding that he is “more than a boy whose parents are dead.” The message is then capped off by Bruce telling Selina he can be “the man who loves you. Who will always try to love you better.”

Kyle’s letter, however, has a different tone and reveals her perspective as she tells Wayne he is still “a hurt child,” who would be killed by their happiness and has the ability to turn pain into hope. Selina then wonders how she could do the same and says, “To save the world, heroes make sacrifices. My sacrifice is my life. It’s you.”

In all, the two don't deny they have feelings for each other, which is something some fans will likely hold on to. Still, the fallout of this issue and the state of their relationship will more than likely be explored in future issues and the upcoming Catwoman series.

Also, Tom King has responded over Twitter to the issue being spoiled, showing some frustration over the fact:

@SuperManes - ...in other news it seems the title to Avengers 4 slipped out...they're calling it Avengers: End Game...not sure it's accurate yet but we will see!

Ah the usual commentary that Bruce is incapable of a relationship and is doomed to cope with his trauma by fighting crime. How thrilling.

@Danbito - This. I’m a lifelong Batman fan and reader.

But I’m tired of this.

@DTor91 - Likewise. The change of pace would have been nice. God forbid they actually let their characters grow at all.

@OptionFour - Exactly. Giving Superman a family has been one of the best decisions done with that character in so long. I wouldn’t say Batman should suddenly go the route of Superman, but I don’t need any more psyche evals for him. It’s time we see him actually take charge of that pain. He can still be Batman all the same, he’s already made that his life.

@DTor91 - I feel the same way. Giving Superman a stable family was a great idea and lead to a different tone and feel for his books that really suited him. Unfortunately, Bendis is writing the new books and seems to be in the process of reversing that.
Sad times all around at DC.

I don’t understand the idea that marriage will make him too happy to be Batman. It’s marriage, he’ll have plenty reason to be upset.

@JvIce - I wouldn't be mad about this, if it wasnt so pointless, we had a full year of build up, and nothing happens, so real falling out, no death, nothing changes, its clear they still love each other so its just going to go back to the way things were before the engagement , Tom King just waisted our time

[frick] YOU TOM KING!
I am so glad I chose to buy the James Tynion run Deluxe Editions of Detective Comics over his crap. His series was great for the I Am Gotham, I Am Suicide, I am Bane, and the proposal storylines, but everything after that has ranged from good to crap.
War Of Jokes and Riddles: Crap
Rules Of Engagement: Good
Superfriends: Superman stuff good, Wonder Woman stuff crap
Poison Ivy arc: Crap
Booster Gold arc: OK, and pointless
Best Man: CRAP
You put all this build up into this, with tie ins, even starting to develop a relationship with Selina and Damien, and then NOTHING, what was the point, you jerk us around for a year, and then nothing happens, no status quo change, nobody dies, no relationships are changed. [frick] if you arent going to have them get married at least do something, this whole year of stories had been rendered pointless, now we are back to where we were a year ago, nothing has changed. I've stuck with this run for a while, even with the dip in quality, but this is the last straw, im done. Im sticking with Detective Comics until this bullshit run is over, sucks that he wants to stay until issue 100 so I have to wait 2 years before I pick up the main Batman series again

@dracula - I'm pissed about the build-up to this leading to nothing, too, but I've gotta ask, what made the War of Jokes and Riddles crap for you? I thought it was absolutely great. I loved the way Joker was written, the art was exceptional, and all the Kite-Man development was great and heartbreaking. I mean, there were some dumb moments (everyone riding in on Kite-Man kites towards the end, for instance) but for the most part I've got no problems with it.
dracula
dracula - 7/2/2018, 1:32 AM
@BrettMan - It made us wait months for an obvious answer, which has now gone nowhere. They made a big deal about some secret that Batman had, which ended up being he almost killed Riddler and Joker stopped him, they really couldnt come up with something better. Catwoman was involved in the story so did she need to be told the story. The story was hyped up so much and it was just boring

I still love Lee's cross-hatching... and his rain is really second-to-none. I've never seen such good rain in any other book, but Lee does rain in nearly every Batman book he draws.

BrettMan - 7/2/2018, 1:21 AM
@Invasion96 - I never wanted Batman to be married either, but the build-up to this got me excited. Everything was executed pretty well and all the wedding prelude issues had really good development for all characters involved. I wanted to see where Batman and Catwoman finally being together would lead.

But hey, that's just my opinion, you know?

I thought marvel comics were the ones supposed to be afraid of true change. This is stupid. A refreshing take on the character that we haven't seen before was just a tease all along.

what a waste of time

The only DC rebirth books I'm enjoyjng right now are Superman, Action Comics, Man of Steel, Detective Comics, Red Hood and the Outlaws, Hal Jordan and The Green Lantern Corps, Flash and Aquaman.

The whole story was a waste of time not to mention bullshit. I’m disappointed in Tom King.
