I was pretty young when the dawn of comic book movies came to be. Blade, X-Men, and Spider-Man were some of the first CBM's I saw as a child. That being said, some of these characters are in need of retirement for some time to let others strive in the genre. Here are my picks.

1. Peter Parker

Peter, the nerd transformed into superhero by the radioactive spider. We all know the story. Which is exactly why it's time for Parker to get lost for a while. Regardless of what you think of the ASM franchise it's set to go on for a few more movies. So far we have had a total of 5 films focused on Peter Parker and his story. It's known, it's dry and it's just plain boring now. Give us some new stuff because we've seen Parker bumbling around for too many years now.

Next Logical Choice: Miles Morales

2. Bruce Wayne

After a total of seven, yes seven, films focused on Bruce Wayne and an eight one coming with Batman V. Superman don't you think it's time to see someone else don the cape and cowl? Bruce Wayne in my opinion will get tired really quick with Batman V. Superman being released only four years after Christopher Nolan's final entry in his famed trilogy.

Next Logical Choice: Dick Grayson's Batman/Nightwing

3. Hal Jordan

The general consensus is that this movie was not Ryan Reynold's fault at all. It was a bad movie from start to finish and I think that'd's pretty much exhausted all my hope for another run with Hal Jordan. I think fans and the general audience alike need to get this movie out of their heads and another Lantern will aid in that fight. This is one of those movies that can't be saved no matter who tries. That being said give us no Reynolds, none of the terrible CGI, a better plot, script, a new villain and everything else a good GL movie needed.

Next Logical Choice: John Stewart, Kyle Rayner

4. Johnny Blaze

To be frank, I didn't mind the first Ghost Rider movie but I'm like 99.9% sure no one asked for a sequel either including me. Nicolas Cage's constant overacting has left the character as a joke to me. I would love for someone else to take the reigns and give Ghost Rider another shot, but this time taking on the mantle while not being Johnny Blaze.

Next Logical Choice: Danny Ketch, Robbie Reyes

Well peeps that was my list. I hope to do more in the future and keep getting better at them (the formatting sucks I know).

I would love to see Batman Reborn in film, but it takes a shit ton of set up. Usually I argue that comic book movies don't need all that set up and should skip alot of the standard origin story stuff, but this is different.

We need to re establish Dick Grayson and Robin as a respectable character, introduce Nightwing. Make our way through at least Jason and Tim, then we need to be introduced to Damien and then we need to see Bruce Wayne die. THEN we can see Dick as Batman.

I don't think they could do all that in any amount of movies, unless they started churning out Batman movies every 2 years.

@gamecreatorjj Two words: Batman Beyond.

I doubt we'll get it in the new films, but I really want to see Batman work with Nightwing with Jason as the current Robin. I want to see Jason's death at the hand of the Joker play out on screen. Same with Barbara Gordon's crippling. If anything though, I'd bet that this new version of Batman will be solo again where Robin never existed.

I know it's unlikely. The time line doesn't have to be exactly the same as the source material but I think it's close enough. Bruce holding a bloodied Tim in his arms could potentially be a really powerful scene.

I am usually not for rebooting things for the heck of it but Ghost Rider is a franchise that needs a reboot badly. He is such a badass character but the movies kind of sucked ass.

I would like to see Danny Ketch as Ghost Rider in a film and Kyle Rayner as Green Lantern in a film too.

They won't do a Spider-man without Peter Parker, nor a Batman without Bruce Wayne. The studios just aren't brave enough to do it in my opinion.

Ghost Rider is a character not as beloved as the other two and his alter ego arguably matters a far bit less, so I could see them using Danny Ketch. Green Lantern could also change, as like Ghost Rider his enemies are not uniquely tied into his alter ego like Spidey and Bats.

Good article and I'll be interested to see if you're right about the cowl passing on in the DCCU.

To say that Hal Jordans chance's are done because of one movie, are like saying Batman movies should not be made because of Batman and Robin, or Superman movies because of Superman 3,4 and Returns

Clearly people are not tired of seeing Peter Parker as Spider-man or Bruce Wayne as Batman. Amazing Spider-Man 2 did big business even though the movie was bad and in Batman v Superman were gonna get a Bruce Wayne/ Batman that we haven't seen yet on film. Also for people who don't read comics and only know of the characters in the movies they wouldn't be able to picture anyone else in those roles. Hal Jordan I would like to see given another chance on screen. He's great in the new 52 comics and I would like to see that Green Lantern on screen. Ghost rider: give me anyone as lo g as its not Nicholas Cage playing him.

That would be good. I'm a little worried there will be no Robin AGAIN.

I disagree with the notion that the GP wouldn't accept Dick as Batman. It depends on the way the film presents it. Dick had big shoes to fill in the comics and he was awesome under the cowl. On top of that, I think the Dick-Damian dynamic would actually translate better on film than Bruce-any Robin.

Unfortunately, I do agree that it would require A TON of setup, and films don't have that kind of time. It's such a shame because Grant Morrison's run in general would be so badass on film from Batman and Son (...ignoring the atrocity that is Son of Batman) through Heart of Hush through Black Glove through RIP through Final Crisis through Reborn through The Return of Bruce Wayne... It's really quite cinematic, imo, more so than most Batman stories. And it establishes Batman in a way that sharply opposes the Nolan films, so it could distinguish itself. But again, there's the problem of time.

I think it would be kinda cool to see a live action TV show depicting Batman from the Golden Age until now, interpreting how these "different" Bruce Waynes fit into one cohesive story. And then, perhaps, some films could be made about the cool Batman stories that require a lot of setup. That's the best solution I can think of at least.

Hal Jordan and Johnny blaze can be done right I don't think we need to move on to other characters. as for Batman I think Batman beyond is the future of the Batman series. But I think in 5 to 10 years if the Spiderman character doesn't change then yes I agree with you
