The story of the Maccabees is a very important one in Jewish history. From 167-160 BC, Judah Maccabee led a revolt against the Seleucid Empire, and ushered in a brief but long sought restoration of Jewish worship at the Holy Temple in Jerusalem. This event is commemorated by the festival of Hanukkah. Here we have a comic book
Hammer of God, that tells us the story of Judah Maccabee.
Who can forget Mel Gibson’s verbal demolition of screenwriter Joe Eszterhas back in 2012? It turned out it was because Eszterhas had been jerking Gibson around for 18 months over a script for a film based on the Maccabees. Now, this video might not be quite as entertaining as hearing Mel scream “HOOORRAAYYYY!!!” at the top of his lungs, but it may just give you an idea of what Joe Eszterhas was allegedly working on for over a year, leading up to the now infamous
confrontation with Mel in Costa Rica.
