Alright, I'll bite. Elaborate a bit for me, why should I start reading Spidey again?

TheMyth@
you were not wrong for dropping the series. it was not good. the people that are saying you're not a true fan if you don't pick it up seem to be leaving out the fact these cost money. it wasn't worth your money at all, while lots of other books on the shelves were.

BUT you should start picking up spidey again (as did i) because so far 'the guantlet' is great! but im a sucker for the sinister six.

@TheMyth: I started reading from ASM #590 since then the stories have been great....

I did the same thing after OMD... I dropped it but picked it up again after 590... so far I haven't regreted doing this!

@Myth@ Spidey is one of my fav super heroes and yeah the past few story lines have not been so great and I don't blame you for dropping the series if your not a huge fan... but it is getting a lot better now... you should check out a few issues and see what you think.

anyone who CHOOSES to miss out on whats goin on with spidey is just plain missin out! "one more day" sucked. get over it! it will eventually get resolved because when peter realizes he made a deal with the devil, spideys gonna go on an epic adventure to make things right again! and i feel bad for the lame-o's who are gonna miss it!

all comics have sucked at one point. all marvel or DC books. it happens. its impossible for a title to go through writers/artists on a regular basis and not suck from time to time. its happened to all the greats. you either have 2 choices. drop the book until it gets good again (which saves money), or sweat it out until it gets good.

by the way, blair butler on G4 was showing a sneak peak of spidey this coming year, and she showed the lizard and said he'll be making a serious comeback this year...his mutation has gone further and he's going to be almost completely reptilian. i'm wondering if his return has anything to do with being in spidey 4 (if he's the villain)?? they DID give spidey the black suit for a short time when spidey 3 was coming out...

MYTH: Even though One More Day was handled badly, Brand New Day has been all excellent so far (apart from one or two story arcs!) If you have some spare cash, I'd recommend hunting down the graphic novels and reading the whole thing from Amazing Spider-Man #546 - if not, then now is as good a time as any to start reading with the whole Gauntlet story starting! :)

However, you should definitely hunt down an issue of Amazing Spider-Man #600 - its awesome!!!

@Myth: I agree with Joshw24.... A must would be ASM #600

It's not that I'm not a Spidey fan, on the contrary, it just aggravates me to see how he had been written into the same cycle all the while never fully accepting his role in life. Convoluted story in comics is not so bothersome to me, but a lack of character evolution is. Spidey seems so much more badass when he is in cross over event titles or with the Avengers. I believe the story I stopped at for Spidey was called 'The Other' some time around the Marvel Civil War if I'm not mistaken. And it is a good cycle for me as when I dropped Spidey I picked up the Hulk for the first time since Bruce Jones had finished his run. X-Men are the only title I have collected solidly throughout the years.

Makiveli21, I read your post's to me in the last article on this topic, so allow me to retort. I have in fact read the entire Clone Saga a few times and The climax was worse for me was the sell out. If you read it in order it was as if they backed themselves in to a corner and someone in the office said, "Hey! What if we just say Osborn did it all?!" and everyone said, "[frick]in' A' you just saved our ass!" I remember my first time through it that was more of a 'wtf' moment for me. I like a lot of Spidey stuff, that story just isn't one of them, along with anything involving Morlun and that Spider-totem jive, just ain't my bag. You don't have to pull the fan-card on me though. I've been a Marvel acolyte for nearing 20 years and sometimes a character gets stale to someone like me. If it makes you feel better, Spidey was one of the original heroes to first draw me into comics along with Hulk and primarily the X-Men.

I'll scope this stuff out as I start up my routine again. I've missed quite a bit of reality the past 3 months. Speaking of the Spidey Clone Saga, I think one of the Westfields recently has it in their catalog in a GN. lol, I had 3 of these when I got home. I suppose it'll be in stores soon enough though.

@ themyth

don't let people that pull "the real fan card" bother you man, lol. those people are ignorant. if you don't agree with their opinion, that means your not a real fan?? give me a break.

wow get all touchy about the "real fan" thing i was just messin with you guys geez! and "ignorant" would be talkin bad about a book that you havent been reading mr condog, so keep sticking up for myth (even though i know that he knows his stuff and can handle himself) and ill keep sticking up for spidey.

Makiveli21 - 12/31/2009, 5:21 PM
i wasnt tryin to offend you myth, just making an arguement. and corndog... your a corndog.

thwhtGuardian - 12/31/2009, 10:40 PM
But you're making an argument about something you're not qualified to judge. Any one who starts trying to say someone is or isn't a real fan loses credibility instantly, no matter how valid their points might have been up till then. The moment you call someone's fandom into question you sound like a tool.
