AKA Jessica Jones Television Show Can Reference The Avengers

Twilight screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg reveals that ABC's "AKA Jessica Jones, will use lesser known Marvel characters, and might have to rename others.

"I wrote it kind of off season so it fell in between seasons," Rosenberg says. "So, we are waiting to see what happens for the upcoming season now and our hope is that it will come to life at that time. It fell between the cracks of the seasons and, hopefully, this will be the one."

Rosenberg confirmed the show would also have principal parts for Luke Cage (also known as Power Man and her eventual husband in the comics) as well as Carol Danvers (better known as Ms. Marvel).

"I had Jessica Jones and Luke Cage and Carol Danvers [for the pilot script]. Basically, I wanted those three guys -- then I would have a series. Everyone else we can be digging into lesser known characters or taking known characters and renaming them."

As for The Avengers themselves, Rosenberg says she can reference them, but Tony Stark and Stark Industries are in the current pilot script. Rosenberg notes, "As we go along things will alter in terms of what is made available to us, but we're definitely in that universe. We are in no way denying that that universe exists. And as much as I can I'm going to pull everything in from there that I can use."

Marvel-Disney is adapting Brian Bendis' Alias comic; Jessica Jones for ABC. They tapped Melissa Rosenberg who has a Twilight screenwriting background to bring the story to life. The story revolves around a superhero that suffers from post traumatic stress disorder. She quits fighting crime once her disorder interferes with her powers. She decides to help in a different way by opening a private detective agency that caters to other superheroes.

This could be good and bad... If it's a great show it could be great but if it's a really dumb show it could be horrible... but of course it is Marvel right? I mean they should know what they're doing? Right... well I'll wait till I watch it for my judgment...

"Tony Stark and Stark industries are in the current pilot script." does this mean Robert Downey jr. will be in it. also i think the only reason they would have to rename people would be because the film rights might be owned by anoher studio for the character they want to use, which could be pretty cool cuz we could possibly see the fantastic four, spiderman, the xmen or any of the characters marvel sold the right to, who gives a sh*t what their names are.

I'm not wild about Ms. Marvel being reduced to a supporting character in a Jessica Jones show, myself.

They may have to rename certain characters because they are part of Sony or Fox's universes.

ok out of allllllll the marvel characters and storylines, we get "aka jessica jone"!? seriously, WHO CARES about her enough to warrant a show? let alone they got the twilight screen writers to do write for them. so not only do we get a story that nobody really cares about, but the target audience will be 14 year old girls...way to go disney...i mean marvel

Oh, and as for Jessica Jones:

Ali Larter or
Eliza Dushku.

I mean, both are used to playing or living as a character dating or married to a black man ( Ali in Heroes and Eliza in real life).
They have both played characters with superpowers, and both are damn sexy.
CherryBomb
CherryBomb - 11/16/2011, 2:58 PM
Definitely Ali Larter or Eliza Dushku! but if those 2 don't do it ... then I was thinking maybe Natalie Dormer!

I like how a lot of artists draw her as pretty 'average' and 'normal' looking compared to other Superheroine's, it's a more realistic effect and Natalie would be great (: she's a good actress.

SERIOUSLY....DID PEOPLE LET THIS BULLCRAP COMMENT BY "tweeeeenkies3" GO??!?

"Ali Larter or
Eliza Dushku.

I mean, both are used to playing or living as a character dating or married to a black man ( Ali in Heroes and Eliza in real life)."

Dude what the hell?? So what if they have dated black guys in their previous characters?? Makes no difference! It should be if they are right for the part you moron! Its stupid, retarded, pre pubescent, plain ignorant, NON SENSICAL!! comments like the above that are making me come to this site less and less! Cretin!

"Mate you used to piss the bed in the past, i need you to come do it again because you've done it in the past..it doesnt matter what you look like or other abilities..THATS THE ONLY REASON!!" Douche...
Oarsis
Oarsis - 11/16/2011, 3:14 PM
@Cerebro...She did smoke, cigarettes...But, I hope they don't put that in the show! Ew. Sorry haha

@Cherry Bomb...Natalie Dormer is a great choice as well...Very hot! And very talented!
PaulRom
PaulRom - 11/16/2011, 3:16 PM
Yeah I'll go with Eliza Dushku or Adrianne Palicki for Jessica Jones.
Yvonne Strahovski for Ms Marvel, Michael Jai White for Luke Cage (or save him for Blade).
Oarsis
Oarsis - 11/16/2011, 3:18 PM
@moneybanks...Really? So, you are calling me a "douche" for stating they have dated black guys? You are smart. I was just stating that they have done it, and could pull of the characters. I really don't like that...Why come on a website, and call someone you don't know a douche for saying they have dated black guys in a show or real life? Did I judge them in any way? NO! I said they were used to the character type. So, calm the hell down.

spud85 - 11/16/2011, 3:23 PM
we shouldnt even be trying to figure out whos gonna play her, we should be trying to figure out what OTHER comic storyline they should make a show about. i can think of about...ALMOST any other marvel storyline lol. why is everyone so excited to see a glamified storyline of a chick hardly anyone even remembers/cares about!? give me a storyline about a character thats actually worth our time
