COMICS: After Years Of Marvel Saying It Won't Happen, The Original Jean Grey Is Finally Returning

Marvel has spent years denying that Jean Grey will return to the Marvel Universe and while a younger version is currently alive and well, a new comic coming this December will finally bring her back...

Marvel has been quizzed about the return of Jean Grey for years now and they've continued to deny that it's going to happen. The character was killed by Xorn during Grant Morrison's New X-Men run and while she's made a few brief appearances here and there, the fan-favourite X-Men has remained dead.

Well, that's all about to change this December. In writer Matthew Rosenberg and artist Leinil Francis Yu's Phoenix Resurrection Return Jean Grey #1, the wife of Scott Summers will finally return to the land of the living. However, could there be some sort of twist on the way? Here's the solicitation text in full:

She will return, like a Phoenix from the ashes. Years ago, Jean Grey died and the X-Men mourned her. Since then, the world has changed, her teammates have lived without her and died without her. And now, when strange events start happening all over the world, those teammates can only come to one conclusion – the one true Jean Grey is back!

There could be more to this than meets the eye but it definitely sounds like Jean will return. Marvel Legacy is expected to reveal the first Phoenix host so it makes sense that Jean will return if the powerful alien entity is about to step back into the spotlight. What that means for the younger version of the hero remains to be seen but how will Jean feel when she sees the current Marvel Universe?

Wolverine is dead and has been replaced by Old Man Logan and Scott Summers has also passed away. The team has also been displaced by the Inhumans so here's hoping the Phoenix sets things right...

they'll probably have her join the Avengers. Marvel is doing to the X-Men books what they did to Fantastic Four.
