COMICS: Captain America Becomes [SPOILER] In ULTIMATE COMICS ULTIMATES #15

In Ultimate Comics Ultimates #15 and next week's #16, Steve Rogers makes a decision which will change EVERYTHING. Unsurprisingly, Marvel have spoiled the surprise in The Washington Post and so you can find out exactly what he does right after the jump.

As "Divided We Fall" continues, this Wednesday's Ultimate Comics Ultimates #15 will see Captain America take on a very different role in the Ultimate Universe. He becomes President of the United States. According to The Washington Post, Steve Rogers is a non-campaigning write-in patriot who wins by a landslide and agrees to answer, "the people's call." This is certainly a first for comics (although the DC Universe did once see the villainous Lex Luthor become President) and series writer Sam Humphries had this to say about the sure to be controversial decision. "We wanted to dramatize an extreme version of what we see in America today. In the face of all [this] divisiveness, what do we have in common? What does it mean to be an American? What can we agree on? And what makes America the place that it is?"

In the storyline, the United States is in chaos as San Francisco is teeming with refugees, Detroit is being run by a dictator and Washington D.C. has been decimated. He’s not a politician — he’s not interested in focus groups, so what will Cap be doing in the Oval Office? "Are we going to see 12 issues of Captain America behind a desk? No, that’s not exciting to anyone," adds Humphries. "Captain America is not going to behave like any other president behaves. He takes the oath of office and barely takes a breath as he goes to hot spots. . . . Cap is out there because he’s so concerned about the state of the Union that he doesn’t have time to think about the State of the Union." How do you guys feel about Captain America becoming Commander in Chief? Sound off with your thoughts in the usual place!
