A new era for Marvel's First Family is almost upon us, and next month, writer Ryan North and artist Iban Coello will launch an all-new run of Fantastic Four. The duo will take this beloved team of superhero icons to exciting new places throughout the Marvel Universe and beyond.

Packed with the grand, high-concept sci-fi storytelling that only the Fantastic Four can deliver, this new era kicks off with the team spread across the country after a devastating event takes place in New York. North and Coello will craft separate adventures spotlighting each member of the team before bringing the band back together at the end of the book’s first arc.

The debut issue will star Ben Grimm and Alicia Masters as they embark on a road trip that takes a very weird turn.

In that, something terrible has happened to the Fantastic Four and the Thing and Alicia are travelling across America to leave it behind! However, when they stop in a small town for the night and wake up the morning before they arrived, they find themselves caught in a time loop that's been going on since before they were born.

For now, though, legendary artist Alex Ross is marking this major milestone in the team's history with a series of variant covers for the opening four issues (after those, the team will reunite in Fantastic Four #5).

As you can see below, these are presented in striking black and white and capture the foursome's timeless appeal. The iconic Fantastic Four artist has crafted classic portraits of all four members of the team in these must-have "Solo" variant covers, and we're sure you'll agree that they are all wallpaper-worthy.

We'll discover what happened to the Fantastic Four, and learn what it will take to bring them back together, when Ryan North and Iban Coello's Fantastic Four begins on November 9.

Alex’s art is always instantly classic. To have an animated show in his style would be nice.

Alex said he has started using custom made action figures as reference for his Fantastic Four characters. It's kind of apparent here, especially with the Thing. You can see where all his points of articulation and balljoints are lol. Regardless, these are very nice as always.

Mr. Alex Ross is a god of illustrations! 👍🏻😃

I've always been a major fan of Ross's work. He is still one of the best comic book painters out there. I realize he is mixing his style with the classic 60's era look of the FF, but I have to be honest, some of it is not working. Sue's face is really off. They all look slightly rushed and unfinished compared to Ross's usual work. The exception is the Thing, he looks incredible.
