After carefully creating a movie universe that connects Marvels individual movies to one another, Marvels Editor in Chief Joe Quesada told MTV at this years NYCC that Marvel will begin creating comics that are connected to the Marvel Movie Universe. Not only will they be connected to the movies but the movie creators will have a hand in the stories.

Here is what Quesada had to say on the subject...

"We're actually working on some interesting ways of marketing the Marvel cinematic universe — I guess the MCU, we could call it. We know the stories that we want to tell, and for the uninitiated, the MCU are going to be stories set within movie continuity."

"[The MCU stories are] not necessarily direct adaptations of the movies, but maybe something that happened off screen and was mentioned in the movie, and we'll tell that story. We're working on some very exciting ways on how to market that particular product, but again, this is really just in the beginning stages. If we're able to pull it off, it'll be pretty massive. I think it's going to put the MCU on the map very, very quickly."

"We're really excited about it, because the folks that are involved in the movies on the West Coast will be involved in these stories. It won't be like one of our comic book writers saw the movie and has an idea for a story. No, these stories are originating at the very top. [Marvel Studios chief] Kevin Feige is involved with these and in some cases maybe the writers of the movies would be involved in these."

"It's all coming from the same house, which is our west coast guys generating these ideas and then either just giving them to some of our writers or maybe some of these guys writing them themselves."

Lol, took long enough!

This is why we should not fund movies such as FIST A$$!

We need it back at MARVEL STUDIOS!!!

Cool stuff @ Hawks!

@ leee777

i agree give it all back to marvel.

also dc should take note this is how you do it.

Since the comics are all owned by marvel, maybe we could have spidey and wolvie interacting with the MCU avengers characters, without having to worry about sony and fox. That'd be awesome. Go to it Joey Q! You is the frickin man!

DP @ I also agree...

Apart from the DC bit lol, DC has always been over Marvel movies, on quality. (Well apart from the few sh1tters lol)

Though don't worry, they ain't stupid, we're get our JLA!

WB are in charge, they wont pass up the chance to start connecting these DC movies, especially once AVENGERS etc rake in the big bucks!

I think DC are just keeping Nolan happy until they don't need him anymore. He wants to keep the universes seperate, for artistic, creative reasons and DC are agreeing. But the second he's done with Batman and Superman they'll be all over the JLA like flies on shit. They know what they're doing.

This sounds like a great plan to me. I don't see any reason why they couldn't have Spider-Man and the X-Men interacting with their studio owned characters Duke, they won't be on film.

@ leee777

it just seems weird to me that warner & dc have got all their charactors all under one roof, but don't do anything with them.

where marvel is trying to expand their universe with the charactors they have got.

it should be the other way round, just imagine what we would see if marvel had all their rights back.

DC got no balls! Marvel got a big pair of brass beauties. They take the risks so DC don't have to. The last risk DC took destroyed Halle Berry's career.

DP @ yeah I know, like Duke said tho, I think their just keeping Nolan happy, fingers crossed we get our JLA and maybe even before WORLDS FINEST movies!

Still can't believe their actually filming GREEN LANTERN lol, once thats a hit, watch out!

P.s. DP @ As long as we don't go and watch Marvel movies from FOX etc, that will happen man, its got to lol!

Another universe featuring stories set in the same one as the movies? I'm sold as long as they put some decent writers/artists on them and they're not just crappy cash ins! Good stuff HAWKS! :)

Guys, check out my Superman: The Man Of Steel Fan Cast! Just click the link.

@Intruder

That's not all. You're forgetting V for Vendetta, History of Violence, Road to Perdition, Constantine...

Gotta say, IM2 was decidedly less than great and the movies you call "decent to ok" were mainly crap, along with Blade 3 (Watchmen, imo, was better than all of them). Just sayin...everyone's entitled to an opinion

Peace ;-)

I agree with Intruder on everything except Watchmen. I think little Zack did a suprisingly good job there.

At least that way they'd get Emma Frost's age right in Fist A$$. The worst part about the watchmen film was definately the ending. A joke without a punchline? The squid was the fricking punchline. Having the shit from the pirate comics enter the real world of watchmen to reflect what watchmens universe was to our perception of superhero comics in 1985. Zack told the joke well, then [frick]ed up the punchline.
DukeAcureds
DukeAcureds - 11/1/2010, 4:08 PM
@ckal
"Coming out of nowhere" is what punchlines do. The absurdity of the GN ending is the whole point of it. You don't try to streamline that and make it more realistic.
However, I am very pleased with Watchmen, it's one of my favorite movies and it did capture the serendipitous groove of the comic. I just prefer the GN and two years is not long enough to forgive it entirely for not having a giant squid. Or pirates.

Well, if you count only films actually made by Marvel Studios, then Marvel is 3 for 3, 100%
CaptainAmerica
CaptainAmerica - 11/1/2010, 4:53 PM
Agree with Anil, they need better animated films, maybe even ones that tie into the same Universe as the theatrical films
DukeAcureds
DukeAcureds - 11/1/2010, 4:57 PM
Well, they did have the same voice actor for Nick Fury as the one in the FFmovie game tie-in. ButMarvel Animated is for the kiddies. DCU animated is the shit. Much more adult-oriented. And they did Gatham Knight to tie-in to Dark Knight. That was just awesome.

I'm not so sure if it's a good idea to have the Fox/Sony characters in these. What if, for example, Marvel gets the Spider-Man rights back? Will they have to cast an actor who looks exactly how Spider-Man looks in the MCU comics, so that the comics and the film can plausibly take place within the same universe? Will they have to write their new Spider-Man reboot script so that it doesn't contradict the MCU comics? I don't know...
