Steve Ditko has passed away at the age of 90.
Multiple sources have now confirmed that the legendary artist was found dead in his apartment last week, although his passing has only just come to light. No cause of death was announced.
Ditko co-created Spider-Man with Stan Lee, and is believed to have had a lot more input into bringing the iconic Webslinger to life than he's generally credited with. He also created the likes of Doctor Strange, Mr. A, The Question, Hawk and Dove and the Creeper.
Notoriously reclusive, the comic book artist very rarely went on record and is known to have declined most interview requests. Because of this, we never really got to find out what he thought of Spidey, Strange etc making the jump to the big screen.
Ditko never married, and has no known survivors.
