Marvel Comics has been dropping teases about the new Guardians of the Galaxy line-up all week, but we now have the full reveal to share with you. Al Ewing will usher in a new age of cosmic storytelling starting this April with a double-sized issue #175 (#13), and while we'll see the return of core members like Star-Lord, Rocket, and Gamora, there's some shocking new additions.

Those include Quasar, Nova, the Super-Skrull, Wiccan, Hulkling...and Doctor Doom!

Now deputized by the Galactic Council, the Guardians need new members to tackle their deadliest threats yet. One of Marvel's premiere cosmic crusaders, Wendell Vaughn, the original Quasar, makes his long-awaited return to answer the call. But what could possibly cause the maniacal Doctor Doom to join their ranks? With art by Juan Frigeri (Ghost Rider), Ewing is ready to looks set to take the Guardians where no Guardian has gone before.

"One of these things is not like the others, one of these things just doesn't belong. What's Doctor Doom doing here...and why? There's only one way to find out," Ewing teased.

The full list of members includes Hulkling Star-Lord, Nova (Richard Rider), Groot, Gamora, Wiccan, Quasar (Avril Kincaid), Rocket Raccoon, Doctor Doom, Super-Skrull, Moondragon, Drax the Destroyer, Noh-Varr, Mantis, Phyla-Vell, Hercules, and Quasar (Wendell Vaughn).

For Earth, there are the Avengers. For everywhere else, there's the Guardians of the Galaxy. Check out the connecting covers for issues #13-15 below, and stay tuned for more on this status quo change.

Dr. Doom is too sadistic to ever be a hero. What's next? Marvel's new defenders include Kingpin and Bullseye? I am a bit tired of these villains turn good storylines.

@Waddles - Lex Luthor I guess. But I don't see that with Doom.

@SonOfAGif - Common enemy, possibly. Lots of villains in the MCU might have joined against Thanos given the chance, their skin was on the line too, but I agree that he should not be seen as truly heroic.

@SonOfAGif - I always found it interesting that one time Reed Richards got a glimpse of the multiverse the one where Doom took over the world was the only one that had total world peace.

And the citizens of Latveria pretty much love him.

@CorndogBurglar - That varies a lot. They love him, except for those times when they are afraid to even speak. Different writers does that to a setting.

@SonOfAGif - as a fan of dragon ball, I had my issue with frieza fighting with goku in the tournament of power. However, once that arc introduced him into the story it was made clear he had no change of heart and is instead saving his own skin while manipulating the heroes to his own end. Not only did this allow for a powerful fighter on their side, it also led to moments of wondering if/when he'd turn on everyone for what he'd see as a better deal. And Dr doom isn't nearly as sadistic as frieza

@SonOfAGif - feels like this would be so beneath Doom though. Any context to these lineups?

@Waddles - reminds me of the Piccolo in his earlier days in dragon Ball. he was the bad guy who wants to conquer the world until Freza comes as the ultimate threat.

@RolandD - im surprised we didnt get more villains trying to help the heroes in Infinity war or Endgame to show the gravitas of the situation, other than Loki I guess they’re all dead

"There's only one way to find out"

Now it feels like its only to get sales. Im gonna read the summary on wikipedia, thanks.

Neither of the Quasar's, nor Doom are wearing the team jacket or colors. Interesting

Add Hulkling to that list

@8thDoctor - Nova and the Quasars are both wearing the looks that come with their power source. And Doom doesn't seem the uniform type.

I'm most interested in Hulkling/Wiccan's role on the team, since they're royalty now.

4thMaster - 2/12/2021, 6:12 PM
@SerKurtWagner - Nova is wearing a sleeveless team jacket, so the Quasar's could have worn the same, but I can see why not add it if it's not going to be noticeable.
I'm guessing Hulkling/ Wiccan hire them for the mission & ho hands on for a couple of issues.

@8thDoctor - Good points. Very interested to see where this goes.

Unfortunately as the comics get dumber, I know that... the movies will too...

Doom is evil

Some of you are making the people that pretend to read look bad.

Amazing the kinda difference an artist can have on a given IP.
He could completely suck on Batman but deliver it on shit like this.

I mean, that's Booth, heh.
X-Men Legends also looks pretty good by Booth.

They were bound to run out of good ideas at some point. This bugs me almost as much as when DC tried to make Lex a hero and then WAY overcorrected.

Man, I love Doom. I really hope they're writing him Hickman-style.

I'm sorry, but I really dislike the trend that I am seeing in movies and in CBs of playing down the depravity, ferocity, and down right ruthlessness formerly seen in these characters (doom & Super Skrull here) and trying to give them "heroic" attributes; other examples include the Skrulls in Captain Marvel, mystique and magneto from the x-men movies and venom. I also recently learned that Nakia, from BP is a villian in the comics, and I personally would have loved to see her play a badass female villain to go toe to toe w/ BP and/or Okoye! A well written, fleshed out, and down right ruthless villain/vileness can be just as satisfying/enjoyable for me as am awesome superhero (sometimes more so)

These kind of changes just kind of says that they are out of original ideas.

Razorface1 - 2/12/2021, 2:02 PM
@Phileo26 - I mean, its not the same changing a character when adapting the comics than changing them in the same medium and universe.

Al Ewing's books don't ever seem to last that long.
Battabing
Battabing - 2/12/2021, 1:48 PM
Also, is the Guardians' team membership supposed to be this big? It's like Legion of Superheroes big.
Phileo26
Phileo26 - 2/12/2021, 2:10 PM
@Razorface1- I get that, I justt grew up on the xmen comic and really want to see a badass mystique and not the watered down verssion that we got. Mystique in the comics knew how to take advantage of her powers, and she didn't just turn into different ppl. Also, she was more of a mercenary and would blow ppl away w/ her gun, as well as kick their ass.
Phileo26
Phileo26 - 2/12/2021, 2:11 PM
And magneto has some cognitive disonance that she be explored, but he became too much of a "good guy" in the movies for me
