Marvel Comics Announces PREDATOR VS. WOLVERINE Series That Promises To Deliver An Epic, Bloody Battle

Ever since Marvel Comics started publishing Alien and Predator comic books, fans have been waiting for a Marvel Universe crossover. Now, it's finally happening in this September's Predator vs. Wolverine!

It's the bloodthirsty saga fans have been waiting for! As we first reported on SFFGazette.com, this September, the Predator will be unleashed on the Marvel Universe for the very first time as he viciously hunts Wolverine across decades of Marvel Comics history in Predator vs. Wolverine

The four-issue limited series is being written by Benjamin Percy, the writer best known for taking Wolverine to his limits in the character's current solo title. He'll be joined by an awesome lineup of artistic talent including Greg Land, Andrea Di Vito, Ken Lashley, and Kei Zama.

The series promises to reveal the bitter rivalry between Wolverine and a Yautja who's been stalking him since his earliest days. With that, we'll witness these never-before-told encounters as Percy brings the bloodiest hunters in all pop culture to their knees.

Wolverine has lived one of the longest and most storied lives in comics history. Now witness the untold greatest battles of Logan’s life - against a Predator! One Yautja seeks the greatest prey in existence - and finds it in Weapon X. From the blood-ridden snows of the Canadian wilderness to the sword-slinging streets of Madripoor, Wolverine and a Predator break everything in their paths on their way to the ultimate victory...or glorious death.

"I'm not going to say I was born to write this crossover...but sometimes the universe reveals why you were created," Percy says. "I am a child of the eighties. I cannot tell you how many times I watched Predator, just as I cannot tell you how many Wolverine comics I have read, because that would be like telling you how many breaths I've taken or cheeseburgers I've eaten."

"The mythologies of both are ingrained in me so deeply they might as well be strands of DNA or wisps of soul. The guns, claws, beef, and blood of both franchises have been stewing in my brain since 1987 when I read myself to sleep every night with a stack of Marvel comics and my friends and I used to play ‘Predator’ with Nerf guns in the woods and river near our neighbourhood."

"This epic hunt will span decades, as both of these giants learn and harden and grow deadlier with time," the writer continued. "Neither will have time to bleed, but you better make time to read, because I'm putting everything I've got into this event, and I'm thrilled to join forces with some of the best artists in the business."

Ever since Disney nabbed the rights to the Alien and Predator franchise as part of the Disney/Fox merger, sci-fi fans have been dreaming up crossovers like this. Marvel Comics has already launched titles featuring the iconic aliens, but this will mark the first time one of them crosses paths with a Marvel Comics superhero.

Take a look at Marco Checchetto's cover for Predator vs. Wolverine #1 below.

How great would Predators be if the MCU had them for Secret Wars?

@incredibleTalk - Hell yes! I loved that comic back in the day, and always wanted to see a Predator vs. Wolverine one. So I’m definitely buying this series when it comes out!

@Jackraow21 - I think this is no match Wolverine will cut the Predator to pieces no contest!

@incredibleTalk - Agreed. It would seem to be a one-sided fight, but I’m interested in how it goes down. Perhaps he’s not just fighting the one Predator the entire series but also some others?

The good thing about comic books is, it’s not too late for Paxton Vs Henriksen (they both die (no offense))

I have always wanted to see these one off fights between Marvel characters and Horror Icons such as Jason Voorhees vs. Captain America, Freddy Krueger vs. Doctor Strange, Chucky vs. Black Widow, Michael Myers vs. The Punisher, Leatherface vs. Daredevil.

@SonOfAGif - Seconded

@Jacory - They don't even need to be in a same universe continuity. Just monthly what if type of issues. There are so many horror icons out there that it would be awesome to read. Can you imagine Spider-Man vs. Jigsaw as he tried to save people from their traps while Jigsaw completely trapped the place up?

first line from logan when he senses the predator will be "another of you again eh?" therefore indicating hes had several battles across the years with several Predators leaving it open for some different time period comics battles in the future

@DemonTweeks - Actually not a bad idea.

I'd be ok with officially incorporating Predator and Alien into the Marvel universe, I think it would work quite well without having to contradict anything, even if in some alternate reality so the purists don't get angry.

@Urubrodi - Claremont brought Aliens into the Marvel Universe. He just called them the Brood instead. 😉

@RolandD - I do have the Days of Future Past graphic novel and that's probably the closest will ever get to Aliens in Marvel Comics, but I still prefer the real thing XD

This looks and sounds like a good time.

I’m sorry maybe some people will (rightly) point out it’s a bit gimmicky as hell, but I don’t care: this is awesome.

I’d be less enthusiastic about something non-sensical like Wolverine v Alien (as cool as it sounds) but this has a potential to actually be a pretty decent story. The Predator is the universe’s ultimate hunter, and Logan spends his life trying to keep the beast inside at bay. It works, and it works well. I’m stoked.
