Even superheroes need a night off occasionally. Some time to kick back, unwind, and hopefully not be kidnapped by mysterious villains and forced to fight for your life through elaborately laid death traps.

Unfortunately for X-Men staples Jubliation lee (Jubilee), Alison Blaire (Dazzler), and Tabitha Smith (Boom Boom), things don't go quite as planned when their girls night out brings a bit more action than they had bargained for. How will these 3 explosive beauties escape their deadly fate? You can only find out in the pages of Leah Willaims (X-Factor, Trial of Magneto) and Calos Gomez's (Amazing Spider-Man Beyond) upcoming 5-issue miniseries, X-Terminators

The creative team have confirmed that the series will take great influence from various "Grindhouse" films, which means violence and fan service galore for readers who prefer a more "grown up" comic experience. With 3 strong personalitied female leads who all feature mutations with maximum explosive capabilities, readers are certainly in for a blockbuster experience on the page.

The cover art for issue 1 (By Federico Vicentini) implies that Laura Kinney's Wolverine will also play a part, so it's safe to assume that many a bad guy will leave the story with less appendages than they started out with.

When asked about the tone of the series, the creators seemed overjoyed at the freedom they had been aforded to make the series as dark and mature as possible. "I'm excited about how gleefully transgressive this book is -- it's sexy, stupid, and chaotic," said writer Leah Williams. "One of my favorite moments in the making-of this book was Jordan [D. White] asking, 'What do you think...Parental Advisory for this book? Or just T+?...I am leaning PA."

Carlos chimed in about his excitment to team up with Williams. "I'm eager to be working on X-Terminators with Leah! She's an incredible writer and always delivers fun and engaging stories and this title is no exception! Did I mention it's action-packed? Also, X-Men has been one of my favorite series, and it's always cool to be back in the X-Family."

The X-Terminators have a long history in Marvel Comics, being the original name for the group that would go on to become the first X-Force, along with several other incarnations over the years. The team name was seen most recently in 2021's Cable Reloaded, calling themselved the "All New X-Terminators".

The Synopsis for the series reads as follows: "In typical X-Men fashion, what starts as a wild night out gets even crazier when Jubilee, Boom-Boom, and Dazzler and kidnapped and put into elaborate death traps by a mysterious new army of enemies. What are three fierce mutants with the power to blow things up to do? Expect a hardcore, neon-fueled, down and dirty type of adventure unlike any seen before in X-Men history with all the light blasts, fireworks, time bombs, and brawling you can possibly hope for!"

Readers can catch issue on on sale in July 6th of this year.

A book starring Jubilee and Boom Boom? I'm in.

@Reeds2Much - And Dazzler too!

@Reeds2Much @Deklipz - it's great to see characters like that. Kinda hope if they make a Mutants show set in the MCU, those characters are part of the ensemble

@bkmeijer1 - I would be so stoked for that! Give us some of the underused but significant characters. I’d be good with a handful of more obscure (to the GA) characters and a couple recognizable mutants to act as the leaders/teachers.

@Deklipz - I think they should just get the first two X-Men teams from the comics in the movies, and just have a show with other characters that could potentially graduate to being on the team.

Among the character I want to see are Jubilee and Dazzler, but also Polaris, Shadowcat, Rogue, Gambit, Bishop, Cannonball, Marrow and Maggott (so pretty much all of the 80s and 90s recruits).

@bkmeijer1 - I’d be really okay with this. Not a huge fan of Marrow and Maggott but they could definitely work.

@bkmeijer1 - I really want Rogue, Jubs, Gambit, Dazzler, Shadowcat, and Bishop though. The rest could be interchangeable with others for me.

@Deklipz - oh yeah Marrow and Maggott (and Cannonball) aren't necessary additions, but I think they're still fun characters to see as school students.

Shadowcat, Rogue, Gambit, Jubilee, Dazzler and Bishop are all characters that I do wanna see, as I can see them as potential X-Men recruits in the MCU as well.

@bkmeijer1 - That would be so refreshing tbh. I’d really like to find out Wanda wiped mutants out as a child tho no more mutants style and that we have them thrust back into the world now by having peoples x-genes just spontaneously fire off due to things that happen with Wanda in MoM

@Deklipz - I'm kinda on board with Xavier mentally blocking mutants from everybody's minds, but I do think it would be cool to see Wanda be responsible for moving them into public view. Which might also draw Polaris out

@bkmeijer1 - I think it would be better if it was Wanda that literally put a hex or spell that took them out of the world snap style, or maybe rewound things from now-ish to back when she was a child. But did the snap-hex/mutant-wipe before we ever were introduced to Iron Man. It could explain the Mutant filled universe (fox) without other heroes and explain why mutants are nowhere to be seen outside of Wanda and Pietro here in our MCU. She wouldn’t have gotten rid of her brother, and then Stark missile would have hit probably soon after her ‘no mutants’ moment leaving her with, quite literally, no memory whatsoever of what happened with her, locking the mutants away forever (until Dis bought Fox 😂) in their own world…

@bkmeijer1 - @Deklipz - It also follows Marvels MO of having seemingly complicated events play out in a way that’s easy for the GA to accept and a lot less confusing on film than they sound on paper. Everything sound like a giant mess when we see/hear leaks but everything is at least competently told, regardless of opinion on story or plot quality.

@Deklipz - forgot about th hex part, I could see that work
Deklipz
Deklipz - 4/16/2022, 9:44 AM
@bkmeijer1 - it also ‘explains’ the f*ck-taco continuity/story issues ‘in universe’ at Fox as well… she was having issues holding it together. As a bonus it can introduce Deadpool into the MCU without actually having him IN the movie.

Deklipz - 4/16/2022, 9:50 AM
@bkmeijer1 - Maybe she’ll have to choose to save that universe or this one and choosing this one wakes up the x-gene in people in the MCU as the mutants in the pocket-hex universe all die. Would be sad, have all the feels, let people ‘say goodbye’ to the x-men, and be prepared for the MCU mutants. Or she chooses to save the mutants and it has an unintended effect of activating the gene in the MCU and destroying the pocket universe.

bkmeijer1 - 4/17/2022, 4:43 AM
@Deklipz - if that happens, I kinda want to see that in a seperate movie. Multiverse of Madness could be the place, but that feels really major just to drop in another movie that isn't centered on mutants
Deklipz
Deklipz - 4/17/2022, 10:15 AM
@bkmeijer1 - They could drop the bomb here and deal with the fallout later. Like Infinity War. We’re just wouldn’t have an ‘on calendar’ date for the immediate fallout though, unless they dealt with it in the upcoming slate of things already in the pipeline.

Wouldn’t be difficult to spark the gene here and then have Mutants be an ongoing sub-plot that gets built up across the next few shows. Would be an easy ball to carry with she-hulk, secret invasion, and armor wars (is that the name?).
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 4/17/2022, 10:41 AM
@Deklipz - that would be pretty dope. Kinda like how we saw Infinity Stones here and there before they came a vocial point in IW
Deklipz
Deklipz - 4/18/2022, 1:28 AM
@bkmeijer1 - It’s what I would do. It gives writers a lot to play with or not depending on the stories they want to tell.

@Deklipz - and it makes the most sense too. Exactly for that reason

Man, I LOVED the old X-Terminators book when I was a kid, and now I don't remember anything about it. Time for a re-read, I think.
