Marvel Comics has announced that they will celebrate Free Comic Book Day this year with not one, not two, but three Free Comic one-shots. Each will reportedly offer readers new and old exciting entry points into some of Marvel's biggest upcoming stories and characters.
Last week, we learned that Spider-Man is gearing up for a new era in time for his 60th anniversary, and in Free Comic Book Day: Spider-Man/Venom #1, we'll see the very beginning of the major storylines writer Zeb Wells and legendary artist John Romita Jr. have planned for their run on Amazing Spider-Man. That includes Tombstone’s first steps towards becoming Spidey’s most terrifying villain.
The issue will also give fans a chance to check out the thought-provoking work Al Ewing, Ram V, and Bryan Hitch are doing on Venom. It's promised that "the groundbreaking changes" this mastermind trio has in store for the symbiote mythos will start here, so we're definitely intrigued.
More announcements are said to be incoming, but what we do know is that these comics will be available starting May 7. We'll keep you updated between now and then, but in the meantime, some spectacular artwork has been revealed by Romita Jr. and Hitch.
