Arriving right in time for the Merc with the Mouth's return to the big screen in Deadpool & Wolverine, Rob Liefeld returns with his final Wade Wilson saga this August: Deadpool Team-Up

The five-issue series will serve as the legendary writer and artist's final blockbuster story; no one captures the Merc with the Mouth's lovable insanity like Liefeld, and in classic Deadpool fashion, Wade is holding nothing back in this latest round of unbridled action and high-stakes adventure.

In addition to featuring Deadpool’s supporting cast - from his fan-favourite allies to deadly enemies and everyone in between - Deadpool Team-Up also sees Wade assemble a crew that's wild even by his standards.

When you need some hired hands, Deadpool is your man. However, when the Merc with a Mouth needs assistance, he's got friends (and frenemies) from across the Marvel Universe. In the series, we'll watch as Liefeld weaves an epic tale bringing Wade Wilson together with Major X, Crystar, Ghost-Spider, Wolverine, and the Incredible Hulk for the first time.

Oh, and we'll also witness the return of a "Lost Marvel Comics Character" who necessitates the ultimate team-up mission.

"Everyone has that one comic with that obscure character that they always wanted more of," Liefeld says of the series. "l, myself, have several of these and I pulled them from relative obscurity from the deepest corners of the Marvel Universe and placed them next to Deadpool, right at the center of an all new, cataclysmic adventure."

"This is some wonderfully weird stuff and I'm so excited to share it with the world. I promise you some familiar Marvel faces and take them to brand new places. Deadpool Team-Up is the most fun I’ve had in years! I'd like to thank C.B. Cebulski and Mark Basso for making this a great experience."

While Liefeld's work often divides opinion, it should be fun to see what he brings to the table with his final Deadpool story. Plus, say what you will about his art style, but the covers below suggest we can look forward to a unique take on characters he hasn't illustrated before (Spider-Gwen being the prime example).

As for that "lost" character, there are any number of possibilities, though we'd bet on it being someone from the writer and artist's past.

I think honestly his art could work with a better colorist. These look washed up idk if Rob does it himself but it doesn’t work. That second layout is just terrible tho

Why do covers featuring the work of returning legendary artists always look faded? If they're going for nostalgia, they're failing. Shit just looks old and irrelevant.

Liefeld's '90s covers looked anything but.
