SCOTT PILGRIM's Anna Kendrick Is Nuts About The Idea Of Playing SQUIRREL GIRL For Marvel
Fans have wanted to see Anna Kendrink (Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World) play a superhero for quite a while, and it turns out she is interested in one awesomely silly character in particular...
These days it's actually surprising when someone isn't asked which comic book character they'd be interested in playing during an interview, but sometimes such pitch perfect (sorry) actor/character marriages arise from their answers that they just have to be reported on.
During a chat with Net-A-Porter, Anna Kendrick was asked the magic question, and responded with the following:
"My brother sent me a Squirrel Girl comic because he thinks I should [play her]. I don't know what Squirrel Girl does other than be half squirrel, but I could be half squirrel!"
Even if Marvel is kicking around the idea of a Squirrel Girl movie (or even introducing her in a different MCU feature), she's probably right down the bottom of the pile - but, that doesn't mean we couldn't see it happen some day.
Doreen Green was created back in the '90s as a light-hearted alternative to the overly-dramatic superheroes featured in other comics, but has since gone on to gain a pretty strong following - so it's not too far fetched to believe that once the reserves begin to run dry, Marvel could take a look up Squirrel Girl's tree.
What do you guys think? Is Kendrick your pick for this character? Any interest in a Squirrel Girl movie at all? Sound off below.
