STORM: Artgerm's Cover For New Comic Series Will Make You Even More Desperate For Ororo Munroe's MCU Debut

Storm remains a character many Marvel fans are desperate to see in the MCU, and Stanley "Artgerm" Lau's gorgeous cover for Marvel Comics' Storm #1 will make you even more desperate to see that happen...

This May, Storm will headline an electrifying new solo series written by groundbreaking creator Ann Nocenti and illustrated by acclaimed artist Sid Kotian. To celebrate this new chapter of one of Marvel's most beloved superheroes, best-selling cover artist Stanley "Artgerm" Lau will grace the debut issue with a stunning variant cover!

Spotlighting Storm in all her majestic power, Artgerm's piece depicts the character as she’s currently portrayed in titles like Immortal X-Men and X-Men Red where she leads mutantkind on two fronts.

While mutants like Namor and Ms. Marvel have started finding their way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there's still no sign of the X-Men themselves. While Deadpool 3 looks set to change that, the mutants there are expected to hail from Fox's X-Men Universe, hence why Hugh Jackman is reprising his role as the pre-Logan Wolverine.

The MCU will eventually get its own version of the team, though we don't anticipate that being until after Avengers: Secret Wars is released. Storm remains the hero many fans would like to see among the first mutants to make their presence felt and, when she does, we can only hope Ororo looks as fierce as on this cover.

In the same spirit as titles such as Symbiote Spider-Man and Venom: Lethal Protector, where the industry’s greatest creators take a retro spin on Marvel heroes in key moments throughout Marvel Comics history, Storm will delve into Ororo Munroe's fan-favourite "punk" era.

The upcoming series will see Storm's omega-level mutant gifts evolve in a radical way, causing her to lose control at a pivotal time in her journey as leader of the X-Men.

In the tumultuous journey that follows, fans will see Storm confront a new nemesis, perform breathtaking never-before-seen feats, and even fall in love.

Storm #1 is set to arrive in comic book stores on May 24.

What exactly is "groundbreaking" about creator Ann Nocenti? I legit have no idea.

@TheFinestSmack - Series editor on X-Men, Excalibur, and New Mutants during four years that covered Mutant Massacre, Fall of the Mutants, and Inferno; co-created Longshot, Mojo, and Spiral with Arthur Adams; wrote the Mad Dog Ward storyline in Spider-Man; wrote a legendary run of Daredevil that added Mephisto to DD's rogues gallery, also co-creating Blackheart with John Romita, Jr.

She was a MASSIVE presence in the 80s, is what I'm getting at.

@ClintThaHamster - Oh nice. I'd say she was groundbreaking then. Josh usually adds these big adjectives all the time, but IO guess he got one right haha.

Slightly OT:

After watching the first episode of Poker Face and rewatching Glass Onion for the third time, I'm convinced that Rian Johnson should direct the MCU's X-Men films.

He's already shown he can do wonders with an ensemble cast, he has a particularly unique style that would differentiate the X-Men films from something like the Avengers, and he's just a damn good storyteller and not a lot of people give him credit for it.

@FilmGuy7878 - agreed but I rather him do his own thing, his original stuff is so good that I don't need him being weighed down my Kevin vision

Storm is easily one of the top X-Men. After 2 underwhelming adaptations, they really need to get her right in the MCU.

Coincidence? I think NOT.

Since the 90s, thanks to the Animated Series, I always considered Storm as the most badass female Super Hero. Her powers are amazing. Unfortunately this was not replicated correctly in the Live Action adaptations.
The people in charge of the MCU must prioritize to represent this character the way she deserves and not just focusing in Logan, again.

Nah. Storm needs to wait for T'Challa to grow up, for [frick]s sake 🤣 .... man.... what is even the MCU anymore lmao

@TheVandalore - Ah yes the infamous loophole casting. Me and my dad were walking out of the theater after seeing WF and even he said "so they said they weren't gonna recast him, but they did"

@FilmGuy7878 - It's not technically a recast. But satisfies a recast in need.

Reading the headline and the article, I expected to see a sexualized version of Storm if you get me. Nice to see it is not exploitive.
