The X-Men's Krakoan age will conclude in tomorrow's Uncanny X-Men #700, and in the "From the Ashes" era, Storm will take her rightful place as Earth's Mightiest Mutant.

In August, she joins the Avengers, and then in October, she embarks on a journey as a solo superhero in a new ongoing Storm series from writer Murewa Ayodele and artist Lucas Werneck. Today, you can check out a trio of variant covers for the debut issue.

Among the new covers is a piece by series artist Werneck showcasing Storm's new costume as well as a gorgeous pinup piece from Jeehyung Lee that will also be available as a virgin variant cover. Plus, like many of Marvel's major launches, Storm #1 will shine on stands with an electrifying Gold Foil Variant cover by Jerome Opeña.

The series will mark an exciting new era for the iconic X-Man that sees her use her Omega-Level mutant gifts as one of Earth's prime protectors. Making decisions on a global stage, her actions will impact the entire Marvel Universe - catching the attention (and admiration) of its omnipotent cosmic forces as well as supervillains that match her standing such as Doctor Doom.

Talking about the challenges Storm will face, Ayodele said, "As a fan of Storm, her duties to the X-Men, and what she stands for in various real-world communities, I would like to assure the audience that Storm is in danger. Extremely so. We love Ororo Munroe, and that is why we have crafted a thrilling story that will put the strength of her character on wide-open display."

"But when you’re an Omega-level mutant, few things can test your limits, and even fewer things can shatter those limits. For our Storm series, one thing we would like fans to remember is that there are threats that are beyond Omega," he continues. "Prepare yourselves for an extraordinary display of superheroism that leaves knuckles bloody, knees bashed in, and mountains cratered."

Check out these new Storm #1 variant covers below.

She is the most prominent, most respected and most powerful mutant on the world stage—and in that role, she intends to be a force for positive change. First up: a major meltdown at a nuclear facility in Oklahoma City draws Storm from her Sanctuary in Atlanta—and into a moral conflict that will test her iron resolve!

The casting and portrayal of Storm in the MCU is absolutely critical. She is a force of nature with and without her powers and needs to hold herself as such

I’m rewatching the Fox X-Men movies leading up to D&W. Of all the issues with those movies - and there are many - Halle Berry’s Storm was a big one.

She’s a talented actress, but they just didn’t give her much to do at all (similar to Cyclops and Iceman in those movies - Rogue and Jean are also poorly done but they had things to do).

Hopefully our next Storm on screen actually portrays this awesome character better.

@mountainman - The other woman who played Storm, she looked the part but didn't come across as much of an actress.

@marvel72 - She didn’t have much to do either, although I liked that they introduced her background as a street urchin at least. With Berry in the OG movies, they just wrote her as an underpowered idiot.

@marvel72 - The over the top 6 pack in that third one is bad too. Very rarely can a woman maintain a low enough body fat percentage to have abs protrude like that. There is this odd trend these days to draw women as far more muscular than is very likely. For a character like She Hulk or Wonder Woman, sure give them 6 packs. For other heroes, it just doesn’t seem right.
