Who is Marvel's Leading Lady?

In general comics are considered to be for males but we all know that really cool chicks love them as much as men do.

Yes DC has Wonder Woman but recent articles both here and at Earth’s Mightiest have indicated that Kara will be WB’s go to girl for new product lines. While Wonder Woman is a great character and a “member of the weaker sex” that could kick most super dude’s asses all over the place she isn’t the bigger sell. She did have a TV series in the mid-late 70’s

but I believe that because Supes already has a huge following and major recognition that Supergirl has a better chance of being lead female outside of the comics than does Wonder Woman.

Regardless if one subscribes to that or not a question remains.

Which Mighty Marvel Madame could fill the same role?

There are plenty of super suffragettes in the Marvel Universe but I have yet to decide if any of them are able to carry a line of merchandise like Kara could. So Carol Danvers aside who has the potential to be Ms. Marvel?

huh, never thought of this, really. i mean, Marvel has a lot of female characters that definately kick ass. but none of them are on the same level as WW or Supergirl as far as recognition.

I would have to say Marvel's leading lady would be Storm, she's incredibly powerful and a hell'uva leader. And she rocked a f^cking mohawk man. A mohawk!

...Scarlet Witch...she can wipe the floor with EVERYBODY...House of M proved THAT...or you go with the first lady of Marvel; Invisible Woman...still in the upper class of power...
Faust1973

...also, if you want to go for recognition factor, then you can choose the She-Hulk. She is to Hulk what Supergirl is to Superman. Too bad there's no Iron Chick or Captainess America...(at least in the 616)...:p

No average joe could pick out Scarlet Witch. Yeah she's powerful, but people that do not follow comics wouldn't have a clue who she is. Storm however is very recognizable and has the iconic armpit cape thingy. She Hulk would sort of work, but honestly I think people would guess who she was just by her color not necessarily by her character.

for the record Jean Grey could whup wonder woman and super girl at the same time, hands down, although i think she's too intricate a character to have what it takes to be a marketing and merchandising leading lady, so to speak

Probably Sue Storm, for stability.

Or Storm or Jean Grey

Honestly guys, I think Mystique or Domino have a better chance of standing out and being noticed by non comic book fans. I don't know of anyone who doesn't know atleast remotely, who Mystique is!

Honestly? At the moment, WW and SG are far more iconic than any other female super heroes marvel has on it's slate.

Never realized that DC was better at marketing their female super heroes. But Marvel can definitely catch up. So far there hasn't been any hit movies about female super heroes. Electra and Cat Woman tanked.

Guess we'll see if Marvel Studios/Disney is capable of succeeding where other studios failed.
