X-MEN #7 Hints That Wolverine And Cyclops' Relationship Could Now Be Romantic In Nature - SPOILERS

The X-Men comic books have already hinted at Cyclops, Jean Grey, Emma Frost, and Wolverine all being romantically entangled on Krakoa, but this week's issue #7 may point to a very unexpected twist...

X-Men has already established that there are doors connecting the bedrooms belonging to Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Wolverine in the Summer House, with the implication that they're a "thruple" (Scott also appears to still be romantically involved with Emma Frost). This all ties into the nature of Krakoa, but could there be something more between Cyclops and Wolverine?

Their past animosity has gone, and during this week's X-Men #7, they share what could be described as an intimate moment on the Moon (at least, that's how it's being perceived by some fans).

When Wolverine complains that he can't sleep, Cyclops points out that it's because of Logan's body hair before observing that it's "Too hot for covers and it's too cool without them." When Scott goes on to invite his old rival to a family day out, Wolverine ponders the prospect of seeing Jean in a bikini before Cyclops adds, "Scott in a Speedo."

Oddly, Wolverine's response is, "Heh. Well, who could say no to that?"

Now, there's absolutely nothing to say that this is any more than friendly banter, but given the "free love" feel on Krakoa, there's a lot of speculation that sexuality is no longer something that mutants pay much attention to because it is, after all, a human concept.

If Wolverine and Cyclops are sharing Jean, then there's really nothing to say they couldn't have also grown close, and while this is bound to be controversial, Jonathan Hickman has been making a lot of unexpected decisions as of late in his X-Men run. It's also hard to ignore the fact that there was a lot of subtext in this conversation between the two heroes.

What do you guys think?

@cubrn - Beyond shock value, a lot of this doesn’t make sense.

First we don’t even know what time line this is. It could be a different one from the main timeline

Second, all these characters have now died and been resurrected with the souls from ....shady Xavier. We have already seen that he has manipulated people memories and that’s why he was kicked out of the X-men. We have no idea if these are the real souls inside the bodies or someone completely different in their bodies. Bobby could be in Cyclops for all we know since he is acting so different

We are looking for natural character progression and if you are watching closely it feels like “pod people.” Scott saying he “lives to serve” when asked if he is jealous of the quiet council!?! He is the de facto leader of not only the X-men but of the mutant race and literally saved the mutant race from extinction by stopping ...f’n wolverine from killing Hope. That is absolutely crazy!

Everything thing feels off and it doesn’t feel like natural progression. Either this is different timeline and a fake out or Hickman should move on.

@MutantEquality - and I think Nightcrawler gives it away that they are not on the Main timeline. He ponders what happens after death which gives it away. In the main time line he not only dies but goes to heaven, sees Charles Xavier and comes back to earth not able to die. So he should have a great idea of what happens after death

@MutantEquality - I think Kurt just meant the philosophical implications of being reincarnated. Does each of his clone bodies have a separate soul? Is the original in heaven watching his clone or is the afterlife postponed for mutants now? He used to know what happened after death, but Xavier changed the rules.

I hope they're not gay... not that there's anything wrong with that.

Are you seriously falling for this clickbait? The dialogue is obviously intended as banter. God, you guys are so gullible...

@Darkknight2149 - It's a Seinfeld joke. I wasn't anywhere near serious. Nor would I give a damn honestly about what they do.

Is it not just dry sarcasm? Granted I haven't been reading this. Animosity or rivalry often are just a mask for sexual tension anyways.

@BeyondtheFuture - Yeah. I weirdly feel this to not be as far fetched or out of character as some. It’s not overt, and it doesn’t change their relationship, just redefines it

I hope this is just friendly banter. Otherwise Marvel wold take it too far.
Get Hickman off the X-Men. This whole Krakoa thing was disappointing at best, so far.

@ThunderThighs - More of the same has been dooming X-Men since the 90s. Its time for a fresh take and the X-Men conquering death, mastering resurrection, curing all the worlds disease and conquering the global pharmaceutical market then leveraging it to be recognized as a nation is a very bold new take and incredibly compelling.

I think after the constant gloom and doom with high school shenanigans inbetween has become increasingly stale, it is time for crazy bold new ideas with well mapped out architecture holding a cohesive narrative going forward for the whole line of X-Books.

@TheJustinHammer - I mean if you care about the sexuality of fictional characters then you definitely have some deep rooted issues.

@TheJustinHammer - Guess so. If you disagree with anything on the online, you're going to be called something-phobic. Or you can simply not care which I gotta say is working out well.
