Over the past few years, Keanu Reeves has regained his status as a Hollywood A-Lister. His resurgence started with the John Wick franchise, and while rumours about some sort of superhero movie role continue to persist, we've yet to see the actor join the Marvel or DC Universes.
Of course, Reeves did play the title character in 2005's Constantine, and there have been rumblings about some sort of sequel or continuation for a while now. Unfortunately for fans of that movie, plans for an HBO Max reboot may have put an end to any chance of seeing the actor reprise the role.
However, that didn't stop The Matrix Resurrections star from once again sharing his hopes to play the supernatural anti-hero again (we never thought he'd be back as Neo, so why not?). "I love playing Constantine," Reeves admitted. "John Constantine. I've played a lot of Johns. How many Johns have I played? I don't even know. I think it's over ten. But anyway, I'd love to have the chance to play Constantine again."
British novelist Guy Bolton is attached to HBO Max's take on John Constantine, while J.J. Abrams is set to produce the project. The hunt is said to be on for a young, diverse actor to take over as the demon-hunting, chain-smoking Hellblazer character, so that takes Reeves out of the running.
