THE MATRIX RESURRECTIONS Star Keanu Reeves Remains Interested In Returning As DC's John Constantine

While Warner Bros. is working on a Constantine reboot for HBO Max, The Matrix Resurrections star Keanu Reeves has now admitted that he would love the chance to reprise the Hellblazer role in the DCEU...

Over the past few years, Keanu Reeves has regained his status as a Hollywood A-Lister. His resurgence started with the John Wick franchise, and while rumours about some sort of superhero movie role continue to persist, we've yet to see the actor join the Marvel or DC Universes.

Of course, Reeves did play the title character in 2005's Constantine, and there have been rumblings about some sort of sequel or continuation for a while now. Unfortunately for fans of that movie, plans for an HBO Max reboot may have put an end to any chance of seeing the actor reprise the role.

However, that didn't stop The Matrix Resurrections star from once again sharing his hopes to play the supernatural anti-hero again (we never thought he'd be back as Neo, so why not?). "I love playing Constantine," Reeves admitted. "John Constantine. I've played a lot of Johns. How many Johns have I played? I don't even know. I think it's over ten. But anyway, I'd love to have the chance to play Constantine again."

British novelist Guy Bolton is attached to HBO Max's take on John Constantine, while J.J. Abrams is set to produce the project. The hunt is said to be on for a young, diverse actor to take over as the demon-hunting, chain-smoking Hellblazer character, so that takes Reeves out of the running.

I don't care if the movie wasn't comic accurate, I loved it and would love to see a sequel.

Constantine needs a series. A movie doesnt do it the justice it deserves.

I think the most newsworthy announcement from that interview was Reeves not wanting NEO or JOHN WICK to be playable characters in a future MORTAL KOMBAT game?

Harsh!

@IronGenesis - Neo is a must for the future of MK. I hope they do a mega MK an bring back all the added characters.

i think it'd be cool to bring Matt Ryan AND Keanu in for a movie. if the Flash movie is successful and opens the doors to parallel universes in the DC movie world, that would be a cool next step: Matt Ryan and Keanu Reeves in a Constantine movie.

For that matter, bring Grant Gustin in for the Flash sequel.

Most Overrated movie of all time. I mean how do you FINALLY get TWO Rachel Weiszesz, and kill one off right at the beginning? Now two Shias I understand, like on Eagle Eye, heck they shoulda killed both of em. At least one of him dies here too. So yeah, great movies, now that I think about it

Although Matt Ryan is perfect in the role, I do have a soft spot for Keanu’s movie. It’s a lot of fun to watch.
