San Diego Comic-Con In-Person Convention Cancelled; Will Go Virtual Again In 2021

It's now been confirmed that, for the second time in the event's 51-year history, San Diego Comic-Con's in-person convention has been cancelled, and will once again take place virtually.

It was around this time last year we got the bad news that ongoing COVID-19 concerns had forced the organizers to cancel SDCC, but we all assumed things would have returned to some semblance of normality by now. Unfortunately, continued uncertainly surrounding the pandemic means large-scale gatherings a still too high a risk.

"The past several months have taken a great toll on both families and friends, and we hope this effort is a small move toward a return to gathering as a community to not only celebrate popular art, but also friendship, education, and the enduring spirit of the fandom that is so much a part of Comic-Con."

The free, three-day Comic-Con@Home virtual event will take place between July 23-25. However, a smaller, in-person event has been set for November, with information to come at a later date. You can check out the official statement below.
