AVENGERS: ENDGAME Directors Open To Helming THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD For DC Studios And James Gunn

Avengers: Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo have responded to the possibility of helming Batman reboot The Brave and the Bold for DC Studios, and they're clearly both open to the idea of joining the DCU.

Revealed at the end of January, DC Studios' "Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters" slate is undeniably exciting. However, there are a couple of projects that have really jumped out at fans and those are Superman: Legacy and The Brave and the Bold

The latter will revolve around the DCU's Batman as he learns he has a young son, Damian. Just like in Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely's critically acclaimed Batman and Robin comic book series, the kid will also become his father's new sidekick, while we anticipate seeing other members of the Bat-Family make their presence felt in this all-new Gotham City too (which is unrelated to The Batman franchise).

Ben Affleck and The Flash director Andy Muschietti are among those rumoured to potentially direct The Brave and the Bold, but Avengers: Endgame helmers Joe and Anthony Russo have now expressed their interest in potentially joining the DCU.

"We don't get asked a lot about DC characters," Anthony told ComicBook.com before Joe chimed in to say, "Obviously James [Gunn] over there running it, it would be a no-brainer. We love him to death. We love the direction he's going to take that world in. You know he's gonna be inventive with it."

"And favourite DC characters? I mean, man. There are so many good ones. I  always answer based on the comics I collected as a kid, and the two comics I collected the most were Spider-Man - actually, the three -  were Spider-Man. X-Men and Batman. But there have been a lot of iterations of Batman, so I feel like that's an obvious answer."

"But, you know, it's hard not to answer that," Anthony said of potentially helming the DCU's Batman reboot. "Here's how you know we haven't actually gotten literal about it and specific about it is because, yeah, Batman would be my favourite character for my entire childhood. But obviously, it's been well explored."

Given how busy the Russo Brothers are running their production company AGBO, we don't think they'll be returning to the MCU or joining the DCU anytime soon. After all, it's already been confirmed they're unlikely to helm Avengers: Secret Wars despite that being a dream project.

The Brave and the Bold doesn't currently have a release date.

I still think Sam Raimi would be a good choice though. He'd bring a different, comic-booky flavor. Imagine a Neal Adams accurate Ra's and Talia, but with an overall supernatural and mysterious vibe to the League of Shadows.

If they get back Markus & McFeely as well, that would be really awesome. Think a Batman & Son movie can work just as well as Winter Soldier if they're all on board

My soul will split if they direct Batman, ngl. I’ll basically be this guy when it comes the two movies, at odds with myself which one I prefer every other minute. I’m not ready for this at all.

@PlusUltra - completely unrelated to the topic at hand, but your comment makes me realize why the new layout looks so off to me. The pictures are way too large and take up too much of the screen

Always had the idea that they didn't care for those DC character that much seeing what they said in the past but i guess now that they got cockblocked by MS from directing Secret Wars and with Gunn over there, heh...no-brainer indeed!

To me it would make more sense for Gunn to direct TBATB, and for the Russo's ( and Markus and Mcfeely since the Russo's need them to make good films apparently) on Superman

It will be a dud like their other projects post endgame. At least without markus and macfeely.

Jhoss Whedon is available

@ObserverIO - now that i want to see.

But that will be a marketing gymnastics worth Gunn's talent being a survivor of cancel culture himself

It's almost unbelievable to see how far MARVEL has shifted.

I expected the return of the Russos with Secret Wars... Penny, penny.

Well if WB doesn't interfere with the production, this could be an epic film.

Would be cool if they did, I want to see Deathstroke and Lobo get some love in the DCS reboot.

Hooooli shiiiiii

That would be epic. They can manage a heavier yet fantastical film, exactly what I'm hoping to finally see with Bats.
