Chukwudi Iwuji steals the show as the evil High Evolutionary in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and we're sure that's going to be the first of many lead villain roles the actor takes on.
While he played Clemson Murn/Ik Nobe Lok in Peacemaker, that role was arguably minor enough to leave the door open to the actor also being part of the DCU. There have already been rumblings about him being considered for Superman: Legacy's Lex Luthor, but Iwuji has a very different role in mind.
Talking to ComicBook.com about his dream DC role, he said, "I can't believe I'm forgetting the name, but there's a sorcerer...he comes from the days of Merlin and he lives today, right now, and he sort of has a demon inside of him that comes out...Etrigan!
"In fact, I was talking to a friend about it. I was like, 'This character, this is Jekyll and Hyde in the DC world," Iwuji continued. "If you told me to name one it would be Etrigan. Like I just love the idea of having two people existing in one. That'd be my DC one. Etrigan."
Jason Blood/Etrigan is a fascinating character and one we can definitely see finding a place in James Gunn and Peter Safran's DCU.
He's crossed paths with just about every hero in the DC Universe on the page, and could be part of any upcoming movie or TV show. It remains to be seen whether DC Studios plans to explore the supernatural side of this world and the role a character like Etrigan plays in it.
Common sense says he'd be brought to life through motion capture and VFX, meaning there wouldn't be any conflict between Iwuji's Peacemaker role and Etrigan as the actor would primarily be providing a voice for the villain. We'll see what happens.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is currently playing in theaters.
