Love it or hate it, the X-Men film franchise is a global juggernaut (pun intended), having earned almost $4 billion worldwide. With the recent success of Deadpool (which is now the highest grossing film in the franchise), director Bryan Singer was quizzed on whether the Merc with a mouth would be meeting up with the X-Men onscreen any time soon. “If you take a character as irreverent and meta as Deadpool and connect him to something as grounded and serious as X-Men, you have to do it carefully and gently,” said Singer. “When you drop them all in together it can be a disaster. That has to be done delicately, but there’s plenty of room to do it.”

When asked if he has any plans to part with the franchise, Singer was rather enthused to stick around. “When you spend nearly two decades in a universe, to simply say, ‘I’m done,’ or, ‘I’m going to abandon it,’ just wouldn’t make sense to me,” he said. “I’m very connected to this universe and a lot of these actors, and also the characters, whomever plays them. So never say never.”

The franchise is also continuing to expand with more characters and spin-off films, including a second Deadpool film, a third Wolverine film, New Mutants and Gambit in various stages of production. “It’s every bit as large," said Singer "And now that we’ve altered the timeline [with 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past], there are endless possibilities."

Of course, Deadpool did meet up with some X-Men in his big screen debut, but noticeably poked fun at the lack of more popular characters. Many fans believe Deadpool would be best left to cross over in an X-Force film. Where do you want to see Deadpool next? Sound off below!

Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel's X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.

Boooooo! Deadpan should be its own universe where we are able to finally see comic accurate representations of the X-Men and can recast Wolverine without it seeming sacrilegious.

Maybe he should ask the Russos for some pointers.

I see Singer gently caressing Ryan Reynolds' back...massaging it while he plays Kenny G in the background, in a candle lit room.
