DEADPOOL Animated Series Scrapped At FX After Donald Glover & Marvel TV Depart Over Creative Differences
In a surprising announcement, FX Networks has announced that it will no longer be moving forward with its animated adult Deadpool series after Donald Glover and Marvel TV experienced creative differences.
FX has announced tonight that they have decided not to move ahead with the Deadpool animated series, which received a ten-episode straight-to-series order last May.
Citing creative differences, FX Networks, executive producer Donald Glover, writer Stephen Glover, and Marvel Television have decided to mutually depart the series. It now becomes unclear whether or not Marvel will continue to pursue developing this series without Glover's Emmy-award winning talent attached.
While this may be bad news for one potential Marvel series, their statement makes it clear that FX and Marvel Television are very committed to continuing their work together on the critically-acclaimed Noah Hawley-produced X-Men drama, Legion, which returns for its second season on April 3rd.
Read FX's official statement below:
"Due to creative differences, FX, Donald Glover, Stephen Glover and Marvel Television have agreed to part ways on Marvel’s Deadpool animated series. FX will no longer be involved with the project. FX and Marvel have an ongoing relationship througha our partnership on Legion, which will continue."
The series was expected to launch this year, possibly even as a companion to FXX's Archer, but multiple sources are reporting that it had yet to go into active production and it's more than a little uncertain whether or not any scripts had even been delivered to the network.
