DEADPOOL: Ed Skrein Confirms He'll Play 'Ajax' In The Movie

When it was announced that former Game Of Thrones actor Ed Skrein had joined the cast of the Deadpool movie, all we had to go on was that he'd be playing a villain. Many seemed to think it'd be Garrison Kane, but now Skrein himself has confirmed that he'll be portraying the deadly Ajax...

Though we've known Ed Skrein would play a villainous character in Fox's Deadpool for a while now, the actor has confirmed via the following Tweet that the particular villain will be Ajax. In the comics, Ajax (aka Francis) was also a part of the Weapon X programme and, like Wade Wilson, was experimented on by the sadistic Dr. Killebrew. He's a formidable foe for the Merc With a Mouth, possessing enhanced strength, speed and agility... not to mention the fact that he's a remorseless killing machine.

Deadpool stars Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, T.J. Miller, Gina Carano, Brianna Hildebrand, and Ed Skrein and will hit theaters on February 12, 2016 with a nice, juicy R rating.

I hope he's not the main baddie. I'm not a fan of two guys with the same abilities fighting. Kinda like how IM and IM2, ironman was always fighting other iron men.

This will be the first appearance for Ajax on the big screen, right? No random background characters in any of the other X-Men movies that were supposed to be "Ajax"?

from the images today on the bridge, and the images at strip club, and this confirmation, it sounds like they are using that leaked script pretty much as is! It's a good script, very exciting

MrNiklander - Ajax is also the name of two mythical Greek heroes who fought in the Trojan War. That's most likely the inspiration for his name.

@DarkArrow19

In the script he is the main bad guy. He doesn't have a healing factor though. He did have all of his nerves removed so he can't feel pain. Him and Deadpool aren't alike at all except for the scarred up faces but his was done because of what was revealed in the Deadpool/Death Annual '98.

So glad I bought the entire 69 issues of the first long running Deadpool series years ago on ebay.... well, 72 issues if you count #0 #-1 and the Deadpool/Death Annual 98 which has Deadpool's origin which Ajax has a big role in.

This series is the best in Deadpool. It's basically where his popularity started to grow:

In the Comics, Ajax was kind of like the sadistic enforcer of Dr. Killbrew of Weapon X. The doctor did the experiments and Ajax was the guy that kept all the test subjects in line. He was also super warped and liked to torture the test subjects. They ran bets on who would die, which was called "The Deadpool".
