Though the rest of the X-Men franchise appears to have been left by the wayside following Disney's recent acquisition of Fox's assets, Deadpool and star Ryan Reynolds seem to have come out as the last ones standing. Teasing his involvement in Disney-distributed projects for some time now, Reynolds' introduction into the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe has been the subject of much speculation.

During an interview with Variety, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige shared his thoughts on the Fox acquisition, as well as the process that went into the decision to keep Reynolds' Merc with a Mouth.

When [Marvel was initially] purchased, [Robert Iger] said to us, ‘if it’s not broke, don’t fix it.' There’s no question that Deadpool is working, so why would we change it?

Feige is a mastermind who never fails to blow the minds of fans. It will be amazing to see the MCU with its newfound potential, with Deadpool playing a key piece in that transition.
