DEADPOOL 2 Is Officially The Highest Grossing X-MEN Movie Of All-Time Following China Release

Regardless of whether you love or hate them, Fox's X-Men movies have found a lot of success at the box office over the years. However, all of those now pale in comparison to the Merc with the Mouth...

The X-Men franchise has mostly been very successful at the box office and while Deadpool previously held the record for the highest grossing X-Men movie, the sequel has now topped it.

Deadpool 2 was released last May but following the release of the PG-13 rated Once Upon A Deadpool and the Merc with the Mouth's Chinese debut, it managed to hit the $784 million mark at the worldwide box office. The first instalment earned $783 million but it's worth noting that the movie did that without being re-released or having a theatrical run in China.

Something that's clear now is the fact that whatever Disney and Marvel Studios does with the X-Men, Deadpool will live on.

While the franchise could be rebooted, it wouldn't make much sense to do that as Ryan Reynolds is the big draw here and a new version of the character would more than likely be rejected by the majority of moviegoers. It's also hard to escape the feeling that the actor pushed for a PG-13 version to prove to Disney that the Merc doesn't necessarily need an R.

Not quite as good as the original film but an enjoyable sequel nonetheless. Wonder when we'll get Deadpool 3.

@Nightwing1015 - I thought DP2 was amazing. 1 of the best superhero sequels ever made as it showed a lot of character growth with DP. I can't believe we got a family film.

IMO it has the best Comic Book End Credits next to Captain America:The First Avenger where we got the 1st teaser trailer of Avengers 1.

...and all they had to do was neuter the trademark raunchy humor and violence then re-release the film because there was no other way that the mediocre part 2 was going to make as much as the vastly superior first film.

Hard to imagine a $700 million movie people have ever given less of a damn about than Deadpool 2

@OmegaDaGrodd - you've just contradicted youself hard with the box office facts.

Just because this site contains some of the douchiest people that will force their own pov, doesn't make it so. People loved DP2, went in huge numbers to see it. And if it wasn't sandwiched between IW and Solo, it would have easily done over 800 millions.
