DEADPOOL UPDATE: Robert Liefeld Reveals The Current Script Calls For a PG-13 Rating

After the HD sizzle reel/test footage leaks on the interwebs, Deadpool creator Robert Liefeld has revealed that the current script under review at Fox calls for a PG-13 reasons, and his reasons may actually surprise you... Hit the jump for more!

About a week after the HD sizzle reel/test footage leaks on the inter webs, Deadpool creator Robert Liefeld has revealed (through some very telling and quite interestingly opinionated Tweets) that the current script pending approval from 20th Century Fox is indeed a PG-13 cut.

Now, before you go and start rioting and looting (but f*ck it, people are going to randomly do it anyway)  Liefeld did mention one thing in the 8th embedded Tweet, which is that as good as the leaked test footage was, that more than likely encapsulates the feel of what the PG-13 cut could very well end up looking like considering the lack of blood and (though nobody seemed to notice that Deadpool only used "shit'  twice, a feat that GOTG was able to get away with) swearing. Plus the likely hood that if a PG-13 cut made it to theaters, that the DVD would most definitely have an R-rated directors cut.

So what do you guys think? Are the (in my opinion , very good) points that Liefeld brought up reason enough that you would still be excited if a PG-13 Deadpool movie was greenlit? Comment below and discuss amongst yourselves! And as always, have a great night.

I can live with a PG-13 Deadpool. Seriously, I can.

DP is a great character due to the writers & comic creators who came AFTER Liefeld.
They took a shitty Deathstroke knock-off character, because Liefeld only creates bad carbon copy types, then they made Wade cool & fun.
Liefeld is a hack writer & worlds worst comic book "artist"..get the feeling I don't like the creep?
Why would anyone?

Pussy studios. R-rated movies can turn a profit, won't make as much but you can fully service certain characters correctly.
Wolverine,The Punisher & Deadpool are all types that need R-Rated violence.

I loved the time when bad ass R-rated action films had the balls to go..well,balls out & let loose.
Can't stand chicken shits who want neutered versions of hard core characters...go watch a soap opera ya pansies.

@charlie2094 Same. I also think that the thought of Deadpool needing to drop an F-Bomb every other word is ridiculous considering that's never how he was in the comics. Plus I don't know if you got to see Guardians but they got away with a decent amount of cursing in that. I counted at least 4-5 "shits", at least 3 "assholes", and then a lot of other non-swears like bastards and bitch. I think if they take it a little farther with the violence than Wolverine, do as much swearing as possible w/only the use of one "f*ck" , and keep that tone then it will be very good.

Ha! Nah, I'm cool. As long as it's a funny film with lots of violence and occasional breaking of the fourth wall, I'm fine. Take out all the blood you want.

Because an R rated Deadpool is the movie that Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now

*Unusual request.

Can anybody/everybody who sees this post please report this individual on YouTube:

He's just some butthurt fanboy who constantly harasses a slightly mentally disabled fan of CBM.com, and nobody's put a stop to it.
It would be much appreciated.

I'd rather have a rated-R movie, but PG-13 fine. Why is it taking so long to make this movie anyway? My friend told me it was because of DOFP's story but I'm not sure if that could be legit..

@RebelVulcan Definitely. As per usual, I found out that he frequents self-motivational videos on YouTube, but (as cliche as it is) that's not any reason to take out anger and frustration on people who can't do shit about it.

r-rated deadpool wouldn't make as much money as a pg13 & that's what the studio is interested in making money.

as someone who doesn't care about deadpool, I don't care about the rating. Liefeld makes a strong case for pg-13. a case that most fanboys will violently react to because thats what they do

Why do they do this? I don't understand. Targetting a PG-13 for what? for more box office sales? BULLCRAP.

Get it R-rated, coz deadpool is meant to be R-rated.

Well, according to Liefeld, even if they make the movie PG-13, they'll STILL release an R-Rated version!

So, literally everyone will still win!
The studio will get their money, the hardcore fans will get their R-Rating...

How is this an issue?

I think a PG-13 rating would be good. I would like to see every time Deadpool says the F word you see a black bar over his mouth. It worked in the movie Scott Pilgrim vs the world. So why not in this movie too. Plus seeing as he likes to break into the fourth dimension that would give a reason for the black bars. Maybe at the end he finds a way to get past the censors to get one in somehow. Plus it would be interesting to see him get angry and every time he says something and it gets blared out.
