DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS Concept Art Takes Sorcerer Supreme Wong To Earth-838

Some new Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness concept art reveals that the MCU's Sorcerer Supreme, Wong, was originally set to travel to Earth-838 alongside Strange and America Chavez...

Marvel Studios often makes sweeping changes to its movies with additional photography (reshoots), but it's become apparent that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness underwent some big alterations. That includes cutting some huge moments, with Baron Mordo's death, Rintrah's supporting role, and a Defender Wong Variant among them.

Now, concept artist Dean Sherriff has shared some of his work on the Doctor Strange sequel, including shots of the MCU's Wong joining Stephen and America Chavez on Earth-838. This was, of course, the home of The Illuminati, a group of heroes made up of Professor X, Master Mordo, Mister Fantastic, Captain Carter, Black Bolt, and Captain Marvel.

We're guessing this was a very early idea rather than something Sam Raimi shot, but there's no denying that seeing Wong join Strange and America might have been a more satisfying use of the Sorcerer Supreme than leaving him at the Scarlet Witch's mercy. Still, Benedict Wong hasn't done too bad lately as the hero has appeared in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and also has a role in the upcoming She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

Disney recently revealed the list of deleted scenes that will be available on the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Blu-ray, though most are set to focus on Bruce Campbell's Pizza Poppa. As a result, we've no doubt that a lot of unseen footage is sitting on a shelf somewhere inside Marvel Studios.

Below, you'll also find a cool alternate take on the scene where Strange berries his "Defender" counterpart after he arrives in the MCU (dead) alongside the reality-hopping America Chavez.

I'v been really looking forward to watching this again next week once it hits D+.

I do wonder what the D+ model has done to blu-ray sales and whether Disney cares about that market anymore. I am someone who bought every MCU film on blu-ray until D+ happened and since then haven't bought a single one. What is the thought process from Disney as a company for the future of blu-rays/physical media releases. This kind of stuff really interests me haha.

@TheManWithoutFear - I have bought every DVD (I started when Blu-Ray was barely a thing) until my D+ subscription. Apart from some of the rarer extra that sometimes don't appear on D+ I can't see many getting the Blu-Ray.

In fact, until Covid, I had watched every single MCU movie in the cinema (even The Incredible Hulk!). Black Widow was the first one I watched only at home. Part of the reason wasn't just Covid or D+, it was actually the rumour mill about Spiderman: No Way Home. All of a sudden all these extra characters from different franchises instantly meant I was no longer a 'completist'. I hadn't watched The Amazing Spiderman or Venom at the cinema. And I hadn't kept up with all the Netflix stuff. To be frank, it was kind of heart breaking!

I hope that the next 3rd film goes back to put together the duo of Wong and Strange as it was in the 1st film. Don't mind if they are paired up to work with Clea.
