DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS' Mammoth Runtime May Have Been Revealed

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is arguably Marvel Studios' most highly anticipated movie of 2022, & it sounds like the blockbuster will have a suitably mammoth runtime based on a new listing.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness looks set to be every bit as grand in scale as something like Avengers: Endgame, and we're anticipating it having the same sort of transformative impact on the wider MCU. If nothing else, we're in store for some mind-bending cameos, though it won't be easy for Marvel Studios and director Sam Raimi to give all those characters their due.

Luckily, the Doctor Strange sequel will have a suitably mammoth runtime to make room for them.

According to Brazilian ticketing website Ingresso, In the Multiverse of Madness is set to clock in at 148 minutes. At 2 hours, 28 minutes, this ties it with Spider-Man: No Way Home as the MCU's fourth-longest movie behind Avengers: Infinity War, Eternals, and the three-hour Avengers: Endgame.

Movies appear to be getting increasingly longer, but, if accurate, this feels like an appropriate run-time to continue telling Stephen Strange's story. With Raimi at the helm, we're confident the likes of the Scarlet Witch, Wong, and America Chavez will also be done justice, though there's no denying that Marvel Studios has a lot of story to squeeze in here. We'll just have to wait and see how things pan out.

In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the Marvel Cinematic Universe unlocks the Multiverse and pushes its boundaries further than ever before. We'll journey into the unknown with Doctor Strange, who, with the help of mystical allies both old and new, traverses the mind-bending and dangerous alternate realities of the Multiverse to confront a mysterious new adversary.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to be released in theaters on May 6.

I wouldnt call that a "mammoth" run time. I just sat through a 3hr long Batman movie and it flew by. Same with Spiderman NWH, or IW or Endgame. As long as the story is cohesive flows, and is allowed to tell what it needs to tell, then imo the runtime doesn't really matter. This is my most anticipated Marvel movie in 2022. i can't wait

@MotherGooseUPus - i’m not knocking Batman, but see I am getting old so I fall asleep in movies now. Interestingly enough, I didn’t start falling asleep on Batman until the action sequences with the penguin. All the detective and drama stuff kept me in the game, But I was like action? I’ve seen action before. I’m not here for the 18 wheeler flips, I’m here for the worlds greatest detective “I’m here for all of it” yeah yeah old age is wasted on the old, I’ll watch it again later

@VictorAlonzo - yes the chase scene! Woke up right before the car flipped. Yeah man we sleep during chases here. Just watch for deer is all. One night I was about to honk at one the realized it was a dude with a black shirt and tan pants, thought his phone was the eyes 😬
VictorAlonzo
VictorAlonzo - 3/24/2022, 3:50 PM
@TheWalkingCuban - 😆 understandable. I woke up when Batman popped out of the flames in the Batmobile! Deer can be a huge problem. The only wreck I've had was with a deer in Aberdeen! Messed up the car pretty good.

TheWalkingCuban - 3/24/2022, 4:28 PM
@VictorAlonzo - oh I know Aberdeen, that’s the straight up hood, love what they did with the gas station and dollar store… of course that dollar store might have been closed due to rats. I stopped there and got a snack recently so maybe not☠️ I hit a deer on the Trace once, texting and driving, I look up, all I saw was a head, badump, ran right over it. Got out and checked, nothing wrong but a little panel missing by the light. But another time I was on 82 goin from Starkville to Mathiston, 9 buzzards flew to the right, 1 flew to the left, right into my passenger side of the windshield. I was so shocked all that happened was my eyes got bigger. Then I looked over, huge bowl shaped indention, glass all on the seat and on my lunch box and laptop. I stopped at the gas station in West off of 55 waiting for my boss to bring another car up from Jackson. That gas station is a hang out for old black dudes. One walked by me. “Buzzard?” “Yep” “every time”

@VictorAlonzo - It’s funny how black folks I have a country city accent in Memphis, but in Corinth they just have a cowboy country accent, and in north central Mississippi it’s a crapshoot LOL

No coke for me then, I’m not stupid, just nachos please, extra extra jalapeños, in fact, no chips, I’ll dip the jalapeños in the cheese.

@AscendedExtra - I made that joke because it’s not a joke, I’m raising awareness to my C diff that I got from taking antibiotics for my cavity. Horrible dumps for two days, and I incidentally told a nurse at work about it and she says you have c diff, here take these pills. I already feel better. But let me tell you, I previously felt like I skipped chips and dipped polyps

Josh, do you know what the word “mammoth” means? Do you use that word to describe other things as well?

@BringFFtoMCU - I reckon we should cut Josh some slack on this one. I agree I was expecting closer to 3 hours based on ‘mammoth’ but I’ll give credit where it’s due. I have noticed it’s largely non existent for Josh to use seemingly confirms in a headline these days. Makes his content much more engaging.

A genuine Thankyou from me @joshwilding

It seems Nobody can tell a story under two hours. Imagine how much they'd make when they could almost double the screenings if it was a tight hour 45.. oh well

Endgame was 3 hours? How? I can remember like… maybe an hours worth of things happening in that film haha.
KWilly
KWilly - 3/24/2022, 9:00 AM
@Twenty23Three - Endgame's first hour was really a "let's get the band back together" prologue. The actual plot didn't start until they went in the time machine lol
DalekCraigWasson
DalekCraigWasson - 3/24/2022, 9:12 AM
@Twenty23Three @KWilly - Each act takes up about an hour. An hour on post-IW fall out, an hour on fun time travel shenanigans, and then an hour for the final battle and the fall out from that.

The only one of those movies that felt too long was Eternals, which would have been a much better movie at two hours or even 1hr45m ... alternatively, it could have been D+ if they wanted a longer story.
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 3/24/2022, 8:55 AM
@ptick - D+ show definitely sounds the way to go for that project. Hope they consider it if they want to make a sequel
Timerider84
Timerider84 - 3/24/2022, 10:03 AM
@bkmeijer3 - there won't be a need for a long movie next time, they had so much to explain, that's over now. The next time should be like a regular movie time, no more than 2.5 hours tops.

As long as everything gets fleshed out, and the pacing is good, it can absolutely work.
