Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness underwent quite a few changes during reshoots, including scrapping the sequel's original opening.
In that, we'd have caught up with Doctor Strange's Mordo still on the hunt for those he believes are abusing the magics. Understandably, the Scarlet Witch was right at the top of his list, and we'd have seen the hero-turned-villain attempt to kill Wanda Maximoff with a crossbow.
Mordo was going to find more than he bargained for, though, ultimately losing his head courtesy of the Witch.
Marvel Studios instead decided to save Wanda's villainous reveal for later in the movie and left Earth-616's Mordo alive to fight another day. We'd later spend time with his Earth-838 Variant, learning he held just as much disdain for his reality's Sorcerer Supreme.
An unused poster for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has now found its way online, offering a first look at the original Mordo. His appearance clearly wasn't going to be shaken up too much, but when he was cut from the sequel, he understandably vanished from posters like this one.
It's interesting to see Rintrah as that's someone else whose role was heavily edited after shooting, taking him from a supporting character to a minor cameo. The design for Cthulhu's demon also appears slightly different.
In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the Marvel Cinematic Universe unlocks the Multiverse and pushes its boundaries further than ever before. The movie sees Doctor Strange, who, with the help of mystical allies both old and new, traverse the mind-bending and dangerous alternate realities of the Multiverse to confront a mysterious new adversary.
