A few weeks ago, it was revealed that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was undergoing what sounded like a series of significant reshoots leading up to Christmas. While it's normal for Marvel Studios to factor additional photography into its projects, some fans couldn't help but wonder whether the news should be considered cause for concern.
Well, The Hollywood Reporter has shared an interesting update revealing that these reshoots may have been a result of Loki and Spider-Man: No Way Home. Both the Disney+ series and that movie deal with the Multiverse, and it's said Marvel Studios was "jazzed by the many actors crossing paths with each other in No Way Home and the playfulness of having alternate versions of characters appear onscreen in Loki."
As a result, the decision has been made to have "more fun with the multiverse" in the Doctor Strange sequel according to one source. What does that entail? "More cameos and character introductions" apparently, news that bodes well for this movie taking us to some unexpected, crazy places.
There have already been rumours about Sir Patrick Stewart showing up as Professor X, but who knows how many other familiar worlds from the Marvel Universe's past Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will revisit? Off the top of our heads, we could see everything from Chris Evans back as the Human Torch to Variants of familiar heroes.
That barely scratches the surface of what this movie could do, and we can't help but start getting excited by the prospect of which actors and characters have now been added to the blockbuster.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to be released on May 6, 2022.
