For the first time ever, Marvel Studios has a "Rotten" movie on Rotten Tomatoes, but no one could have guessed it would be Eternals. With an incredible, A-List cast and Oscar-winner Chloé Zhao at the helm, you'd think the movie would be hailed as a masterpiece. Instead, it's divided critics, but that's not who Kevin Feige and company make these blockbusters for.
It's going to be up to the fans to decide what they think about these ancient superheroes, and they'll get their chance to weigh in when screenings begin in North America this evening.
Zhao has now taken to Twitter to share her gratitude with the fans who are gearing up to watch Eternals, saying: "Tomorrow we give our love child to the world. I love her so much. To my little family at marvel studios, and our cast, crew and everyone who helped us give birth to her, to our wonderful fans and to all the curious souls around the world that await her, I’m eternally grateful."
Talking of Rotten Tomatoes, Eternals has hit a new low on the review aggregator with 54% based on 188 reviews. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, for example, had a total of 312 reviews counted, so there's still time for things to turn around (a lot of them would have to be positive).
