ETERNALS Merchandise Offers Our First Hint That Dane Whitman May Become The Black Knight

Some new merchandise for Marvel's Eternals has been revealed, and it provides our first indication that Kit Harington's Dane Whitman might just suit-up as the Black Knight in the movie. Take a look...

Game of Thrones alum Kit Harington is set to make his MCU debut as Dane Whitman in Marvel's Eternals, but we're still not sure if his character will follow his comic book counterpart by suiting-up as the Black Knight.

Harington has skilfully avoided questions about his MCU future by making it very clear that Whitman is just a "normal man" with no special abilities, but it would be a little odd for Marvel Studios to cast such a well-known actor in this role if there were no plans in place for him to power-up at some point.

Now, some new Eternals merchandise has found its way online (via the Kit Harington Updates Twitter page), and it provides our first real hint that Whitman will indeed take up the mantle of the Black Knight.

As you can see, this accessory set includes a ring with the Raven emblem the hero wears on his chest in the comics. The Twitter page also dug up some old set photos, and it looks like Harington has this ring (or at least, one very like it) on his finger. This doesn't confirm anything, of course, but there is speculation that the ring could be a family heirloom passed down through the generations, and Whitman's involvement with the Eternals (or Sersi, more specifically) will somehow ignite his long-dormant powers.

What do you guys make of this? Drop us a comment down below.

Eternals features an exciting new team of Super Heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ancient aliens who have been living on Earth in secret for thousands of years. Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, an unexpected tragedy forces them out of the shadows to reunite against mankind's most ancient enemy, The Deviants.

The next Phase 4 adventure is set to hit theaters on November 4.

He wont become Black Knight in this film. It's an introduction.

Will probably happen in another film

He'll probably get his costume at the end of the film as a stinger ending.

@SonOfAGif - I don't think he's gonna wearing a mask. I can feel it. maybe some costume that might resemble his counterpart in comic, but no mask.

@solskulldeath - most MCU actors have that clause in their contracts. No masks or limited masks. Hence why iron man, Spider-Man etc all take their masks off as much as possible. Brand recognition. Marvel ain’t paying top dollar to have the Star hide their face. Same issue happened with Pedro Pascal for Mando. Initially the mask needed to stay on for story purposes but he kicked up such a fuss that they wrote a few more scenes in without it in S2. And I imagine now that he’s best mates with Bo Katan the helmet will be coming off a lot more in S3

@globaltravels - It depends because Star Lord, Ant Man, and Spider-Man all wear their masks a lot more than the other characters. The final battle in Endgame kind of pissed me off because Marvel had Tony Stark expose his face/head every time he was on screen. In a climatic battle he would have kept his head secure but because of actor clauses we saw RDJ more than we saw the Iron Man helmet.

@SonOfAGif - that is the only thing I hate in the endgame, ironman wont take off his mask regularly even in battle

@globaltravels - that's sucks. we need a good B list actor to do this

I still find it funny that this guy feared being typecast in Knights and sword roles post GOT

@Se4M4NSt4ine - I dont think there are many actors who would turn down an MCU role even if it's similar to one of their previous roles.

@Jeight8 - apparently, there have been loads of actors who’ve turned down MCU roles!

@Se4M4NSt4ine - not only that but in GOT his character had to “take the Black” and they often refer to Nightswatchmen as men in black etc. so it’s extra hilarious. Can’t wait for Checkmark Twitter to lose their shit at a white actor being named Black Knight.

I don't think theyll incorporate it into this version but itd be cool if the connection with exodus is shown.

I think he'll become The Black Knight in the post credits but I am sure Marvel will have Eternals figures on sale and I bet The Black Knight will be one of them.

I’m glad him and Madden are in this huge blockbuster film. Madden is great in his other tv stuff (especially Bodyguard) but they haven’t featured much in film. Rooting for them both. It’s also gonna be a laugh when Blue checkmark Twitter find out a white male is playing a character called Black Knight… I mean they changed Black Dwarf to Cull Obsidian, will Marvel do the same here?

How would you guys feel if Tom Hardy's Venom remains in the MCU and Marvel Studios partners to continue his story but now within the MCU? It could lead to the next saga "The King in Black" where Knull senses a symbiote outside of it's designated universe living in a different one. In doing so Venom is no longer within the symbiote hive mind that Knull has over Symbiotes because they must exist in their designated universes. Just an idea to kick upstream.

@SonOfAGif - I love this. We've got 2 movie studios pumping out Spidey-verse films. As a life-long Spidey fan, this is literally unbelievable.
SonOfAGif
SonOfAGif - 10/3/2021, 5:53 PM
@GeneralZod - Agreed. It also allows both studios to explore the King in Black storyline and possibly allow both to bleed into one another. Knull being a multiverse threat as well where every symbiote in the multiverse originates from him and they would operate similar to how ego had those little plants grow on various planets. But Venom going off universe is a serious problem for Knull. If even one symbiote goes rogue and "offline" from it's Hive it's a threat to Knull.
