In Eternals' final act, Sprite turns on many of her fellow immortals by siding with Ikaris as he looks to ensure the Emergence takes place. We learn that the Eternal - who is trapped inside a child's body - has feelings for the team's leader, which results in Sprite literally stabbing Sersi in the back.
Now, one eagle-eyed fan has spotted a possible clue in the movie foreshadowing Sprite's betrayal.
When the hero unsheathes her sword shortly after that Deviant attack in London, Japanese text on the blade can be seen that has Sersi's name on it: "セルシ." What's the significance? Well, as one Redditor points out, "The letters on the surface of a Japanese sword usually mean the name of the maker of that sword. That means that the sword was made by Sersi."
Sersi being the one to gift Sprite with her sword, only to later be stabbed by it, is definitely a clever way of making the moment more meaningful and personal. Sersi's name literally being written on the blade that stabs her during the final act is certainly ironic, while it no doubt made the "young" Eternal's decision to turn on her sister-like figure that little bit more painful.
Now Eternals is available on Disney+ (you might want to keep an eye on the Blu-ray's back cover for a familiar quote come February 15), we're sure even more details like this will come to light.
