ETERNALS Star Kit Harington Admits He Doesn't Know What The Future Holds In Store For MCU's Dane Whitman

While the stage appears to have been set for Kit Harington to return as Dane Whitman in Blade, the Eternals star claims to be completely in the dark about what comes next for Black Knight in the MCU.

Kit Harington is one of the most exciting additions to the MCU in recent memory, but his role in Eternals ended up being little more than an extended cameo. In a post-credits scene, he retrieved the Ebony Blade and seemingly gave serious consideration to wielding it (perhaps in an effort to find Sersi after she was taken from Earth by Arishem).

Of course, a voice stopped Dane from making what could have been a terrible mistake, and it belonged to Mahershala Ali's Blade. Presumably, Black Knight will now be hunting vampires alongside the Daywalker, but Harington appears very much in the dark about his MCU future.

"I don't know much of what they’re planning. And you know, I hope to be involved in future stuff, with that character, with Dane Whitman, and that he might go on and be the thing that everyone quotes at me in the street," he says in the video below. "But I honestly don’t know. I don’t know what their plans are. I know they’re going into a kind of Phase 5."

"Obviously, Mahershala's voice came in at the end of Eternals, but you just don’t know where they’ll take it. And really, and I mean this genuinely and people never believe you when you say this, but they don’t tell us much really," Harington continued. "And I think for good reason, because we’ll be in an interview like this and we’ll go and spill the beans."

While Eternals didn't live up to Marvel Studios' expectations either critically or commercially, it would be a terrible shame for these characters to be shelved. That's particularly the case with Black Knight, a hero who could go on to make a major impact in the MCU moving forward.

What do you hope the future holds in store for Harington's Dane? Let us know down in the comments section! As for Blade, the movie arrives in theaters on November 3, 2023.
