ETERNALS Star Kit Harington Admits He Doesn't Know What The Future Holds In Store For MCU's Dane Whitman

While the stage appears to have been set for Kit Harington to return as Dane Whitman in Blade, the Eternals star claims to be completely in the dark about what comes next for Black Knight in the MCU.

Kit Harington is one of the most exciting additions to the MCU in recent memory, but his role in Eternals ended up being little more than an extended cameo. In a post-credits scene, he retrieved the Ebony Blade and seemingly gave serious consideration to wielding it (perhaps in an effort to find Sersi after she was taken from Earth by Arishem).

Of course, a voice stopped Dane from making what could have been a terrible mistake, and it belonged to Mahershala Ali's Blade. Presumably, Black Knight will now be hunting vampires alongside the Daywalker, but Harington appears very much in the dark about his MCU future.

"I don't know much of what they’re planning. And you know, I hope to be involved in future stuff, with that character, with Dane Whitman, and that he might go on and be the thing that everyone quotes at me in the street," he says in the video below. "But I honestly don’t know. I don’t know what their plans are. I know they’re going into a kind of Phase 5."

"Obviously, Mahershala's voice came in at the end of Eternals, but you just don’t know where they’ll take it. And really, and I mean this genuinely and people never believe you when you say this, but they don’t tell us much really," Harington continued. "And I think for good reason, because we’ll be in an interview like this and we’ll go and spill the beans."

While Eternals didn't live up to Marvel Studios' expectations either critically or commercially, it would be a terrible shame for these characters to be shelved. That's particularly the case with Black Knight, a hero who could go on to make a major impact in the MCU moving forward.

What do you hope the future holds in store for Harington's Dane? Let us know down in the comments section! As for Blade, the movie arrives in theaters on November 3, 2023.

He’s really trying to stay in that Jon Snow role and prove that he still knows nothing.

@Dannywest -

I liked the film too but there's still hope. Looks at suicide squad, Thor and now batfleck as inspiration for a second chance😎

I don’t think Marvel would just introduce someone like the black Knight and not ever use him. I’lol guess we won’t see him again till Blade or Eternals 2. My hope is that we get a midnight sons movie with Blade, Black Knight, Ghost Rider and Punisher.

Please scrap all Eternals-related plans aside from maybe including Black Knight in the Blade film.

@TheLobster - I actually do wanna see more of the Celestials and their impact on the universe. But that's moreso because I love to eat myself over how it'll get all sorts of astronomical and cosmological stuff wrong. Not because of the Eternals.

I kinda expect him to show up in Blade, even if it's in a small capacity.

I want more of that MI-13 and eventually Excalibur side of the MCU, and I think Blade is a good point to start from.

It might not be a popular opinion, but I enjoyed the Eternals more than Thor or Doctor Strange. I hope to see all these characters at some point again.

Eternals didn't perform as well as they believed it would so can't see anything happening with Eternals, maybe return in another heroes movie.

At this point I have little to no idea what Marvel is going to put out on the table for Phases 5 & 6 (which is probably how they want it). Seriously, take a step back and look at all the plates that they're spinning right now: the Multiverse Saga, the Supernatural stuff, the cosmic stuff, etc. Basically all we know is that the Multiverse Sage is the center but all the stuff that they're doing adjacent is amazing. I'm not trying to fawn here, but even the most ardent detractors of the MCU have to admit that overall they've pulled off some amazing shit and seem poised to double-down on that. Seriously, it's almost like we MCU fans need to have a version of whatever the big wall-diagram that Feige and folks are working off of in order for us to keep track of things. Like, okay "Sp here are the street level characters like DD, and over here are the mutants (oops did we say that out loud?), and here are the Avengers-but-now-they-are-the-Thunderbolts, and here we have Namor, and...". Jeesh. Great time to be a fan but I'm going to have to hire an AA to keep track of this for me.
