We've only seen a single trailer for Eternals, though a second is expected to arrive imminently (we've heard rumblings it could be online next week). Marvel Studios has shared little to no details on Kit Harington's Dane Whitman, including whether he's going to suit up as the heroic Black Knight. As a result, we're hopeful the character will be showcased in some way in that next sneak peek.
Recently, the Game of Thrones alum appeared on The Tonight Show and, as you might expect, he wasn't willing to give any specific details away.
Harington did, however, talk about why Dane Whitman is a character who resonated with him.
"I just think it’s an aura, I think that there’s a kind of, like...you just know," the actor said of the secrecy that comes with joining the MCU. "No one says you can’t say anything. First of all, I didn’t get sent a script, I just got sent ‘This is who you’re playing.’ And so I was like ‘Okay.’ I just had to Google the character, which is a hell of a way to kind of work out who you’re playing."
"I Googled him, and I was like, 'He’s a character called Dane Whitman,' and I realized he has a sword and rides a horse, and I was like ‘I know this guy! I’ve been this guy!’ But actually he’s quite different." So, he's not just playing another version of Jon Snow, though we are hoping this version of Whitman is eventually going to become a superhero in the MCU alongside Sersi.
As for those rumours claiming that Harry Styles has a secret role in the movie, all Harington would say was: "No idea. Unless I’ve been recast and he’s playing my part, not a clue. No comment. I hear he’s a great guy!" It sure feels like Styles might be playing Eros/Starfox after all, eh? We'll see!
