Dead of Night is three part limited series done by Marvel Max. The series is a re-imagining of Man-Thing, Devil-Slayer, and Werewolf By Night. The series, like all of Marvel Max's works, has no shortage of foul language, violence, and nudity.
For those of you who aren't familiar with the back story of Man-thing, let me enlighten you. Dr. Theodore Sallis is a biochemist working in the Everglades, trying to re-create the super-soldier serum. (The next part depends on which version of Man-thing you are reading) His fiancee, Ellen Brandt, and lab partner betray him for not wanting to go ahead with human testing. While destroying his serum notes, Ellen shoots him in the back. He then falls into the swamp.
Fearful that they will find the only remaining sample of the serum left, Ted consumes it and in turn, transforms into Man-thing.
The Digger
The Digger is as his name suggests, a grave digger. He is also the narrator for this Dead of Night series. Now my choice is a fan favorite for playing obscure characters: Doug Jones.
Dr. Theodore "Ted" Sallis/Man-Thing
My choice is Adrien Brody. He has starred in countless films such as "The Jacket", "The Pianist", and "Cadillac Records". He could play Ted to perfection. In the recent "Predators" film, Brody practically got ripped for his size, if he kept that size, all he would need is some CGI and he could play the towering and terrifying Man-Thing.
Ellen Brandt
I chose Megan Fox. Now, I hate Megan Fox, and I mean I HATE her. So seeing her get scarred by Man-Things acid touch just makes me happy.
Eric
Now Eric is Ted's lab partner who betrayed him. He isn't in the story long but his look reminds me of Owen Wilson
Jennifer Kale
Jennifer is a sorceress not so well known in the Marvel universe. In Dead of Night, she is a stripper who is trying to take care of her brother. She later becomes an ally of Man-Thing. For this role I chose Gretchen Mol. She may not be well known but she is a fine actress.
Andrew Kale
He is Jennifer's younger brother and has seen Man-Thing on numerous occasions. He is not fearful of him, thus he sees him as a protector and a guardian.
For this role I had trouble since I don't know of many child actors. I chose Chandler Riggs, who is playing Carl in the television adaptation of the great "Walking Dead".
Mutants
The mutants of the swamp are the children of the failed experiments of the super-soldier serum. Now I have no preference who plays them, they just need to get the look right.
There are a few more characters but none I feel worth mentioning.
Well that is all for now, for those of you who enjoyed this, my next cast will be Dead of Night Featuring Werewolf By Night!
