Dynamo's Superman Super-cast

My fan cast for the Superman Reboot.

Okay, guys. It's my first time so be gentle.

So being me first article I thought it should be about my all time favorite superhero... SUPERMAN. I think i'll throw in my two cents as to who I'd like to see play The Man of Steel as well as his supporting cast. So here goes...

Superman/Clark Kent- Joe Manganiello

I'm surprised this guy doesn't get much attention on here. If there's one thing that I think an actor needs to play this role it's CHARISMA. This guys got it up to the ying-yang. A quick youtube search will show you he has the voice, the build and the screen presence to pull the character off. Another reason for his choosing is that I think after seeing all these BOYS playing the character we need someone who looks like a SuperMAN. Now some people find his nose a bit... distracting. Well in motion it doesn't look that bad and besides Reeve had a considerably smaller nose than average and he still pulled the role off. Oh and also, doesn't Manganiello bare a striking resemblance to John Byrne's Superman?

Lois Lane- Rachel McAdams

There's so many actresses that can pull this off that it's hard to only pick one. However I finally decided on Rachel McAdams. There's not much need to defend this one. She's a great actress, full of energy needed to pull Lois off and ofcourse there's the fact that she's stunningly gorgeous.

Jonathan Kent- Craig T. Nelson

Here's a guy who's could pull off all the love and wisdom that it takes to play Pa Kent without sounding pretentious. He's just the right age, being old enough to look like he knows what he's talking about but not looking like he's about to break his knees if he lifts some hayseed. Oh and he's no stranger to the genre, being Mr Incredible himself.

Martha Kent- Helen Mirren

Not much to say here. She'd be great on screen with Nelson.

Jor-El- Jon Hamm

Ok I think i just lost most of you by not casting him as Superman. But to hell with what Alex Ross think (this is the guy who makes Superman look like Steven Seagal). Personally I don't see much Superman in Hamm but many people seem to. Speaking from a realistic stand point, WB aren't going to want an actor in his 40s to play a superhero in a potential trilogy. Be that as it may, we could definatly see him playing Kal-El's scientist father from Krypton.

Perry White- Kurtwood Smith

Come on, you know he's pretty much the perfect guy.

Jimmy Olsen- Jesse Eisenberg

I would've chosen Shia Labeouf but I'd probably get gang raped for it. Besides the guy's too old and too much of a star now. Eisenberg would do a good role and seems like a guy who could keep up with Kurtwood in the news room.

Lex Luthor- Daniel Day-Lewis

Another one with alot of choices. However I don't think any of them could match the sheer presence and intensity that Daniel emulates when he performs on screen. Oh btw... NO MORE REAL ESTATE SCAMS!

Brainiac- John Malkovich

For a character like Brainiac we need an actor who can give a cold, subdued performance while still seeming menacing. I can't think of anyone better than Malkovich. He's no stranger to villainy or comic book movies ( no matter how much we all try to forget Jonah Hex) and I really think he could give a performance that would really seem... alien.

Well that's all I've got for now. Remember this is my first article so please forgive any mistakes and don't forget to leave your comments below. Much love. :)

I don't like Superman or Jimmy Olsen. The rest are fine.

I really don't get the hype around Manganiello. He's got the perfect build...but that's about it. I don't find anything special about his acting that makes me jump and say "That's Superman."

@Tyler
Well to each his own I guess. I feel the same way about the hype for Jon Hamm.
As for Manganiello, it's not so much the character he plays as the way he acts in real life. He has that humble yet strong quality that alot of candidates seem to lack. Alot of the people mentioned so far seem to be able to play a better Clark than Superman. I think it should be the other way round.

Dude this a great cast! although not very original, love your Superman pick. He seems perfect for the role.

Your Perry White I haven't seen before but I like it!

Rest of the cast is great but those choices stand out for me.

Nothing against Hamm but I just don't seem him as Superman. Maybe if it was a Pre-Crisis one shot movie. But Superman as he is today, I just don't see it.

Dynamo @ Thats becoz HAMM's a perfect GREEN ARROW man! (SUPER MAX : P)

HAMM owns in 'MAD MEN!'

Yup not Superman, maybe a JLA FRONTIER one but thats about it!

Right, gr8 article man, welcome aboard... Dunno who your SUPES is but he deff looks the part! :)

Still like ROUTHY or CAVILL tho! ; D

After JONAH HEX John should stay away from DC movies, DDL would be an awesome LEX, I've always thought he'd be a awesome RED SKULL too!

The rest of your picks I really like so thumbs up dude! ; )

I'm on the fence about the whole Hamm Superman thing, but I think he would be a great Jor-El, awesome call there.

Rachael McAdams is awesome in whatever she does; she has this strong but vulnerable thing that I think would be great for Lois. Strong the whole film, but then one moment of doubt or weakness... Man, she would rock that.

Not a huge fan of Ma and Pa, Mirren is truly great, but just seems too urbane to be Ma, I do like Nelson though, but see him more as a Perry White Choice. My own pics for Ma and Pa are Scott Glenn and Sissy Spacek.

Lex: Day-Louis=Awesomeness cubed.

Like your Jimmy. That's the kid from ZombieLand, right?

Brainiac, that’s a good one there. It's nice to see people moving on from Weaving, though I think he would have done a good job, I'm glad people dropped it after he was cast as Red Skull.

As for Joe as Superman, I am one of the four Americans that has never watched True Blood, so the only exposure I have to him was as Flash Thompson in the Spiderman flicks, so its not much to go on.

I've been wanting to post my own Superman Fan Cast, but I'm still hung up on Superman... I just can't nail down who I want, so I'm not gonna bash anything (unless you just make a ridiculous article with Sean Faris as Supes, Megan Fox as Lois, and Vin Diesel as Lex - see that article in Editorials for a laugh and some verbal abuse).

Good cast all around though.

@LEEE Thanks man, I appreciate it. :)
Oh and for the record, I think Hamm would make a better Alan Scott ;)

@Thank you.
Yeah Mirren was a weird idea for me but hey she can pull it off. Personally I see Nelson as too nice for Perry White.

As for Jimmy, yep he's from Zombieland.
Oh and I would've loved Weaving for Brainiac but now I think he may have too much swagger in his voice. That's great for a villain like Megatron but for Brainiac who's cold and methodical we need someone more... somber.

tyler@ ...and you think Routh has something special about his acting? Yikes!

I think Manganiello has a much better personality on film then what Routh offered. As far as Hamm goes, if they are going to go with a short actor, then it needs to be Scott Adkins. He would be perfect for the role! Unfortunately, I don't want to see a 5'11" Superman.
