We know that Marvel has a list of movies they plan to release up to the year 2028 with the Captain America & Avengers sequels, Doctor Strange and Ant-Man; but what about Black Panther? Many fans have been hoping and praying for a deserved adaption; however, Kevin Feige hasn’t made it quite clear on whether it will happen within the given time frame. At this point, Marvel can’t fail so wouldn’t this be the perfect time to bring out such an iconic character? Not to jump the gun or anything but Feige, of all suits, should understands the fans’ collective frustration and desires; so ideally he has something up his sleeves. Let’s hope Marvel is merely being careful in giving T’Challa his proper close up in Phase 3 or 4. Nevertheless I trust them.
Let’s first point out how Gathegi has the experience when it comes to playing characters from fictional manuscripts i.e.
X Men: First Class &
Twilight; therefore he would understand the importance of fandemonium (we will tear shit up). He also has these youthful, distinct and intimidating qualities. Most notable in
Gone Baby Gone where he plays this gangster suspected of kidnap. Not to mention he delivered a superb monologue with
a decent Haitian accent.
4. Sinqua Walls
Granted, I haven’t seen any episodes of
Teen Wolf (MTV for that matter) but from the little work that I have seen-it’s potent enough to land him on the list. He definitely has the looks and built for a superhero and most notably his compelling charm. If one were to compare him to any other actor currently established in the
Cinematic Universe, Walls shares a quality quite similar to
Thor’s Chris Hemsworth.
3. Aldis Hodge
No stranger to the fans, Hodge probably has the best physical aspect of Black Panther due to his background in parkour and martial arts. Plus he’s a decent actor and has done a
convincing Nigerian accent that has propelled him into the spotlight of playing a foreign character. In addition, Hodge has indeed reached out to the fans about being in this Marvel movie so the enthusiasm is certainly there.
2. Chadwick Boseman
Mr. Boseman is probably the fans’ number one choice which is quite understandable. He’s a great actor that proves that he can handle the dramatic moments in a film; just go Red Box
42. Not to mention Boseman has this regal-like appearance that’s a huge plus for playing someone in power. He, like Hodge, has expressed a deep interest of being involved in the
Cinematic Universe which is what the fans and a film studio would want from a contending actor. All there is left to say is that Marvel better grab this guy before WB decides he’s fit for one of their characters (cough, Green Lantern or Cyborg).
1. Gbenga Akinnagbe
This is probably the choice that may spark a riot because he’s kind of flown under the radar; however, he has expressed interest in the past about playing Black Panther (which doesn’t mean much but what a shocker). This entire section could go on-and-on about how talented he is as an actor but what really sticks out for Akinnagbe is that he doesn’t have that American look like some of the other choices. He has this exotic appearance which is, for a lot of us, idyllic in casting a foreign character (hope no one forgot that Black Panther is from Africa). In case you were wondering, Akinnagbe is a first-gen American to Nigerian parents (there you have it). Now on to his acting resume, he’s been on
The Wire,
The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 and
The Savages with the late Philip Seymour Hoffman. As well as a fair amount of broadway work which is where a lot actors really hone their skills.
