Guardians of The Galaxy Fan-Cast

Guardians of The Galaxy Fan-Cast

Personal, fan-cast for the core members of the GOTG, some may agree some may disagree, let's see..

I’m sure many won’t agree with my fan-cast, but here it is anyway. I had two different actors for each part. Two actors whom i think would be great for their respective characters.

Garrett Hedlund or Oscar Issac.

I can see both of them in the (movie) suit and both are relatively young, but can play leaders of the group, and that’s what needs to be done. Sorry no Nathan Fillion here, nothing against him but I don’t see it, no matter how many fans cast him as Star-Lord. Hedlund has a certain screen presence and we all know Hedland as Sam Flynn, obviously has no problem with action set in a CGI world. Issac, I have been of a fan of for a while, also came to mind when thinking about who can be Star-Lord. Relatively unknown but for those fans (many or lack thereof) Robin Hood, Sucker Punch knows he has a presence as well. Also fans of DRIVE know he can play a conflicted character with emotion not just another ex-con waiting to do another job. Both actors have what it takes, barring any other commitment to other films I can see both as the leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Paula Patton or Gina Carano

A strong female character needs a strong female actress. Yes it’s “typical’ to cast Gina here but like Patton both have the seductive look down AND can play well with the action (Haywire, MI:GP). Makeup can not only add to a look but also add to the performance of the actor. I do believe both have that capability. Add to the fact that Patton is a great actress and Carano isnt that bad herself? C'mon.

Scott Adkins or Michael Jai White

Most were thinking or have cast Vin Diesel for Drax (that comes later), but for Drax I wanted to think a little out the box, don’t know how many lines Drax will have in the film BUT like Gamora, the actor needs to not only act/look/be a bad ass, but also have no problem with big action routines. Seeing as Drax (like Gamora) would require make up/prosthetic, Jai White has experience with that(Spawn) but also can still convey emotion that the makeup won’t hold back. Adkins the “underground” action king was giving the audience only a sliver of what he can do action wise in The Expendables 2, he would be great as Drax and will be able to show the a new audience what he is capable of. The fact that he can act and has the “mean mug look” only adds to his skills set.

Vin Diesel or Keith David……………Brian Blessed or Kenneth Branagh

Groot - ”I AM GROOT” his signature catchphrase. That can be said in many emotions but needs levity when shouting or just said casual conversation. That’s where Vin comes in. Never thought of him being Drax BUT as the voice for Groot? I think so, why? Two words…Iron Giant. Who doesn't love that movie? While the movie itself is great for many reasons, I dare say Vin voicing Giant also brought more emotion to a “lifeless” robot. While I can’t see him as a character physically, I can hear him as a CGi character
What can be said about Keith David? GOLIATH! Gargoyles one of the best cartoon series of all time…FO ALL TIME! He as well has the power in his voice to make people quiver…with one phrase. One phrase can mean a lot (as Maximus has found out or lied about) and Keith David having experience with voice over work, I do believe he’d be great for GROOT, and hearing that booming voice going up against Thanos?...nothing else needs to be said

Rocket Raccoon - the first person to come to mind was Brian Blessed. Without a doubt, having Blessed’s BOMBASTIC voice in that little animal on screen would be the greatest thing in the world. Able to convey emotion and SHEER TERROR, it’s essential to have “that voice” for Rocket. IMO whoever voices Rocket should be English or at least have an accent from “across the pond” His accent is part of his character. While Brian Blessed is my first choice, I also believe Kenneth Branagh could and would do a great job as well. We all know him as a great actor but he as well brings a certain weight with his voice with casual conversation within the group or giving orders or shouting while shooting a big ass gun, Branagh AND Blessed can deliver.

What do you all think?

I think having Blessed as Rocket would be funny.

I would go for:
Star-Lord- Garret Hedlund
Gamora- Gina Carano
Drax- Vin Diesel
Rocket Raccoon- Ray Winston (voice)
Groot- Anyone (doesn't really matter, all he says is "I am Groot".

If you've watched Undisputed 2, you would know that Scott Adkins and Michael Jai White would be the perfect lead actors for a Heroes for Hire movie. Scott Adkins for Iron Fist and Michael Jai White for Luke Cage.

Not bad but I like MARVELSTUDIOS'@ line-up.

I don't know if people know this but DRAX
is a large fellow. A tall beefy guy.
He was a human white guy who was given a
new large, powerful body to kill THANOS.

Both ADKINS and WHITE are too short, way
too short. Unless they used CGI and I
personally would hate that! CGI needs to be
used sparingly.

@ DDD

Actually, Drax is only 6'4" and Adkins and Jai White are 5'11" and 6'0" respectively, so they'd just need to use lifts or camera tricks to make them look taller. When will you learn that you don't need CGI to make actors look taller?
