How to make Daredevil work in the MCU.

My thoughts on Matt Murdock could be introduced in the current Marvel Cinematic Universe... right under everyone's nose!

Hey everyone, longtime reader and CBM FAN, I came with this idea and thought I needed to share. This is my first editorial, so please bear with me. ( I am also on my phone at work) lol

As everyone knows, the Ben Affleck Daredevil sucked. Plot holes, bad acting and casting helped to ensure this move never became a franchise.

But while watching Iron Man 2 it all came to me, and it all starts with Jon Favreau!

We all know Fav's is a fan of boxing. From his boxing-centric independent movie "Made", to the his boxer character Happy Hogan in the Iron Man films. Guess what? Jack Murdock was also a boxer.

In my addition to the MCU, Jack Murdock was a boxing partner to Happy Hogan growing up. Being a proud man, Jack never accepted handouts or charity for anything and wanted to make it himself as a boxer. After Happy gave up his boxing hopes and dreams getting a job working for Tony Stark, Jack continued to follow his dreams and make his newborn son Matt proud.

After being approached by Wilson Fisk to throw a fight, Jack refuses, citing his son Matt as someone who he needed to be a role model for. To teach Jack a lesson, the Kingpin sends goons to kidnap Matt, who runs from them and gets into a fateful accident involving chemicals that we are all too familiar with.

Taking Fisk's threat seriously Jack runs to his old friend Happy and begs him to ask Tony to set things right with the Kingpin. Tony, in the midst of a wild night out with beautiful women, receives a call from Happy informing him of the situation. Tony agrees, but before he can act puts it in the back of his mind and continues to party.

The next morning, Tony Stark is waken up by Happy to tell him that Jack Murdock was dead. Happy begins to yell at Tony, unlike anyone has ever spoken to the billionaire. Happy tells Tony that he is responsible for orphaning a child. It is at this moment where Tony takes a real hard look at his life and begins to cease his heavy drinking.

Tony begins to act as a benefactor for Matt, making sure he was taken care of and puts him through law school because lets face it, Stark Industries could always use another lawyer. This can also explaib how daredevil can afford his penthouse apartment (and underwater sleep chamber). After school, Matt sets up shop in Hell's Kitchen where he catches the eye of S.H.I.E.L.D. during the battle of New York

Let me know what you think!

I'm glad you didn't suggest setting it in the 70's like some other twats. Seriously, setting a CBM of the MCU in the past (other than Cap) is just illogical.

They ciuld just introduce him as a character that exists in the MCU.

I get tired of everyone thinking that every character has to have ties with the Avengers films.

Whats wrong with doing a DD movie that has nothing to do with the Avengers? Just have someone mention the Avengers, or the alien invasion just to show that it is taking place in the MCU.

Same can be said for Punisher, Moon Knight and countless other characters.

My reasoning for Stark is, as an orphan of a poor boxer, how does Matt afford school/costumes etc... a benefactor. And since there was already boxing in Iron Man it kinda put itself together.

I like the idea if the timing were better. I think the fact we've never heard matts name mentioned would be weird when trying to tie things together. This is a good idea to tie the IM reboot and a new DD movie together, tho depending on the age of the new Stark , Matt might have to be really young.

This would be maybe ironic considering that John Favreau was in Daredevil.

I think if Marvel had a series of films by themselves that would be cool. It would be their Marvel Knights Cinematic Universe. Thats where we put people like Blade and Daredevil to get that darker tone but still have it part of the Marvel Universe

They could write him in no problems. Just because he didn't interact with Tony during the events of the movies, doesn't mean they didn't have a past relationship.

6of13: Ray Stevenson was the Punisher and volstagg.

He doesn't have to be with the avengers at all.

Funny how you never mentioned that Jon Favreau was actually IN Daredevil.

Introduce Matt Murdock the lawyer as a reoccuring character in the 'Agents of SHIELD' TV show and potentially some MCU films.

You can the slowly reveal his secret identity without the need for a risky solo film.

@CoolioVids101 I like that idea. Street level, darker films seperate but within the MCU. Only bring them into the main fold for the big Avengers3 showdown

Just let Daredevil be Daredevil. No need for Tony Stark or The Avengers.
