Editorial Opinion

Alright! Now we're cookin'! I've recently wrote an editorial on CBM ( http://www.comicbookmovie.com/other_news/news/?a=56347 )
where I stated in conclusion that our member's here are the absolute best source for movies reviews.

Who better to review a film than geeks & fanboy's who for the most part have an extensive knowledge of the genre's of CBM's, Sci-fi, action/adventure, video games and fantasy material to varying degrees.

Well lately, I've noticed ALOT more reviews popping up after a film premiere here at CBM than just a few months ago.

Now some people here offer their review of film with an agenda or prejudice, but generally that can be detected by the reader.

Overall , if the reader average's out the review's and comments in the threads , there's a 99.9% likelihood you'll get a pretty solid read on the film's quality...and whether you'd like it.

I think this is a great tread here on the site!

Now not every review will be Shakespeare, but whatever.
Even if someone rights a few paragraphs giving an overview of what they saw and how it affected them , that's perfectly fine!

What I'm getting at is that we, the member's of this site, can render the "official" 'movie critics'- wherever they my hail from (print, radio or internet) ...utterly obsolete.

Keep in mind: they(the 'critics) for the most part are employee's and will disseminate information as it accords with their employer's will.

Here,(I'm hoping!)we member's don't have that dictate.
We'll just write up our opinions and experiences on the movie the best we can , without being judgmental of each other's reviews(again,I hope!).

So keep those reviews coming fellow members!

You'll have plenty of practice this summer!

I respectfully disagree headlopper.

Yossarian wrote an editorial a while back that sums up some of my thoughts:

@Irons- Wow. That was a good editorial by @Yossarian. Lots of facts and a solid argument that I respect.

@Mothra-"... since fanboys are too easily impressed and critics are too snobbish and self absorbed."

Heh, you're right there.

However, averaging out the reviews and opinions have served me very well.

Too much and for too long have 'critics' trashed decent films due to media bias, and conversely praised films that weren't worthy of it based upon the same bias.
So I say forget them. We'll review movies here.

@NOLANITE- I'll check them out. Maybe they're an exception.
