New Star Trek TV Series?

Wouldn't this be cool?

Log line-
A New Enterprise crew boldly goes where no man has gone before as they embark on a 7 year mission to explore the unknown Beta Quadrant, only in the year 2529 and with 26th century advancements we will once again sit in awe at the wonders the future holds for humanity as we explore the final frontier of our galaxy; the Beta Quadrant.
Getting back to Gene Roddenberry’s original concepts we take Star Trek in a completely new direction. A new quadrant, and new far more advance technology, and far more advanced life forms.

Warp drive – (Now travels across all quadrants would be relatively easy)
Think “crunched subspace”, basically instead of bunching up space in front of you and stretching it behind you (old Warp drive), or folding the fabric of time and punching thorough it making a worm hole, you would crunch space-time into a ball, like wading up paper and now there are millions of spots you can go to. From here a navigation system directs where you come out and more importantly, when you come out. For this we need a temporal compensator to avoid breaking the temporal prime directive. This equates more to a teleporting but there will of course be a cool effect where we see the ship enter this subspace crunch and see it exit.

Holo-deck- (re-imagined)
Transformed into shared virtual reality ( similar to the matrix) which opens up limitless possibilities. For instance, how many people can fit in a holo-deck 30-50 tops? Well the new “holo-decks” would be similar to online game play with nearly limitless space. This would completely change contact with Earth and the Federation. No more recorded subspace transmissions, but now you could live almost a double life and go see you family back on Earth through a real time, shared virtual environment. This new “holo deck” called that out of posterity, would be absolutely real. I mean let’s face it: the old holo-decks looked great and were presented as an awesome piece of tech but future Starfleet officers will make fun of how fake they felt compared to the truly authentic world constructed in the Matrix like environment of the new Holo-deck. This would also provide a similar set of offset shoots that would have more meaning than a holo-deck because they aren’t just for recreation but for communication. This is tech similar to what the Borg had in the Voyager episode where 7 of 9 discovers the hidden virtual world the Borg go to “Unimatrix Zero.”

Space suits re-imagined-
No more space suits, Gone! Now we would have Data-esque surrogate bodies that can go into dangerous places and on the surface of non-m class planets, like demon planets. This would be a cool way to make First contact with radically different alien races.

Holograms re-imagined-
Surrogates would replace the need for Holograms to be forced into doing dangerous work since in the future they would all be seen as sentient life forms and it would be illegal to make them do anything against their will. In this future only other holograms are allowed to make holograms. They would be like their children, and of course one of the main characters would be a hologram. He would have a mobile emitter (now current tech because of Voyager). Also it’s important to note that the surrogates would not be controversial because they wouldn’t have a neural net so they would be mindless/ unless without their user.

Ship interface re-imagined-
No longer just buttons on a smooth surface, but implants would make it possible to mentally interface with the ship's con. Floating 3D holographic consoles would be visable to the view and of course the user. Also there would be a more traditional manual back up in the case of a systems outage.

Transporter – re-imagined
A belt-buckle like device that is a mini warp drive/cloak (see Next Gen Season 5, Episode 24 “The Next Phase”) that would move you over great distances and through solid objects stopping you wherever you want to go, say within 5 light years. This would also mean no more transporter accidents where people don’t rematerialize or are copied. Also you wouldn’t need to report to a “transporter room” you would just go from wherever you are. Lastly this overcomes the Heisenberg uncertainty principle by not even dealing with dematerialization.

Communicator-
Initiated Telepathic communication via an implant that you can shut off at will. Modified technology from the Borg. The users could still tap their chest over the Federation insignia to activate the device.

Location-
Beta Quadrant, so like Voyager, we see new Aliens and new more advanced enemies, but with a more superior mode of transport it isn’t difficult to go to all four quadrants relatively easily.

So this is a rough idea of what I would like to see in a New Star Trek TV Series. What do you all think? Got some ideas of your own? Sound off.

@daredevilfan- TNG yes. DS9 was pooh. I was actually a fan of Enterprise, shame it didn't pick up enough steam to continue

Nice read! Good ideas! Personally, though, i think a show based on the timeline in star trek online would be better. I like the new tech you brought up, but i think it'd be more interesting to show its development/discovery.

DS9 stunk. Was a dumb satellite or space station but no Enterprise ship if I remember correctly. Just not very interesting

@Soto- I grew up with TNG. Worf is my all time favorite Trek character.

I did like that Worf was part of DS9 at least and the special it did with TOS was great- trial and tribble-ations was one of my favorite star trek episodes actually.

But DS9 to me seemed weaker than TNG, ENT and even TOS.

My favorite Star Trek film has always been First Contact. Picard to me is the MAN, better than Kirk. But anyway, we're all fans. We can just agree to disagree

DS9 was created to challenge BABYLON 5.

I personally preferred J. MICHAEL STRACZYNSKI'S
BABYLON 5. It was more realistic and serious!

But being a STAR TREK NUT I had to watch DS9!
LOL
I liked ODO & QUARK. And the CARDASSIANS were
cool but creepy!

I'd like to see a citizen's STAR TREK, non-
military. A scientific and sociological quest
to the ALPHA QUADRANT in a new sleeker STAR SHIP.
built by the CAPTAIN/lead scientist.

Have it more mature, like PROMETHEUS, and put it
on HBO, SHOWTIME or AMC.
