It’s hard to find anyone that can debate as eloquently and passionately as a comic book fan. Here we have the perfect forum for just such a deliberation. Now's the time to put that otherwise useless wealth of knowledge to work! Our fourth match-up:

Powers and Abilities:

Silver Surfer (Norrin Radd) He wields the Power Cosmic, granting him superhuman strength, stamina, durability, and the ability to absorb and manipulate the universe's ambient energy for a variety of effects. The Surfer can navigate through interstellar space, dimensional barriers, and hyperspace, which he can enter to exceed the speed of light when flying on his board, and has even proven capable of time travel on several occasions.
He sustains himself by converting matter into energy; does not require food, water, air, or sleep; and can survive within nearly any known natural environment, including deep space, hyperspace, and even within black holes and stars. He can analyze and manipulate matter and energy, and molecularly restructure or animate matter at will, even transmuting elements or creating objects. He can also project energy in various forms for offensive and defensive use, including the erection of force shields, and bolts of cosmic force powerful enough to destroy entire planets and planetoids. He can utilize the Power Cosmic to augment his superhuman strength to indeterminate levels. He can heal living organisms, though he cannot raise the dead, and he has proven capable of revitalizing and evolving organic life on a planet-wide scale. He can alter the size of himself or of other matter, cast illusions, and phase through solid matter.
His senses enable him to detect objects and concentrations of energy light years away and to perceive matter and energy in subatomic detail, including life energies of living beings. He can even see through time, and with concentration he can achieve limited perception of past and future events in his general vicinity. He has demonstrated telepathic ability, including mind-reading on occasion, and has proven to be able to influence human emotion and sensation.
The Surfer's board is composed of a nearly impervious, cosmically powered silvery material that is similar to his own skin. The board is mentally linked to him and moves in response to his mental commands even when he is not in physical contact with it. The board is not indestructible, but on those rare occasions when it is damaged or destroyed, he is able to repair or even recreate it with little effort. He can attack opponents remotely by directing the board against them, and the board is capable of absorbing and imprisoning other beings, at least temporarily.

Sentry (Robert Reynolds) – His powers derive from a serum that moves his molecules an instant ahead of the current timeline. Even though most of his powers and their limits are unknown, he displays several abilities including vast superhuman strength, speed, stamina, durability and senses, the power of flight, and energy projection.
He has been shown to be able to easily lift tremendous weights, but generally greatly restrains his full power. He has been able to effortlessly defeat, and break the axe of Terrax,[32] a herald of Galactus shown as powerful enough to slice planets in two, easily break through the shields of Doctor Doom, and his unrestrained power even overloaded the Absorbing Man. He possesses super-human speed, making him easily able to evade or catch bullets, and through flight he can travel to the sun and back in a matter of minutes. Nick Fury has stated that S.H.I.E.L.D. has not yet found a way to kill the Sentry, and Iron Man's scanners have found no physical weaknesses in his body. His durability exceeds that of Thor and Hercules. By unleashing his full potential he managed to fight an extremely enraged Hulk for a prolonged time until both fighters reverted to their human forms and the Sentry collapses at Bruce Banner's feet. He also has superhuman senses as he once tells an opponent that he can see his nerve centers and claimed to be able to "hear a butterfly sneeze in Central Africa" from New York City. He can project energy fields and control light, and he uses his mental powers in his daily life, although they are primarily used for holding his physical form together. He was once able to implant his memories inside another person's mind. He appears to be able to bring the dead back to life under extreme emotional distress. After Ultron murdered his wife, Sentry was able to resuscitate her by simply touching her. He can also emit a radiation that pacifies the Hulk, severely limiting the latter's rage-fueled power. His main weakness may be that he's been shown as susceptible to mental manipulation.
He possesses tremendous energy projection, capable of harming even the Hulk, who has withstood the equivalent of solar flares unharmed. The serum he drank was stated as being a hundred thousand times stronger than the original used on Captain America, and was modified by Weapon X.

You know me multi! So, I'm going to continue with what I was congrueing about with the "Most Powerful List", and I really forgot Sentry in that list...So, One who has the power from a titan(Supernatural) and the other has the power of a sun. Winner by default is Silver Surfer cause well, Titans eat suns..Lol ;D

By the way @Multi. Xavier and Apocalypse are on that list is because they possess supernatural powers, one from his mind and the other is a being beyond this dimension!

Surfer all the way. The Sentry has a buit in weakness in the fact that he is nutso. Hes not realy been challenged by anyone with all the Surfers combined powers and I believe he would revert back into his shell trying to figure out what to do. System overload.

i voted the sentry because he is a character that has not been fully explored.
we all know of silver surfer and that he can be beaten.
to date, the sentry has taken down every opponent he has ever faced except one: the void.
the void is an alternate personality of the sentry's so therefore the only person he hasn't beaten is himself.

this was a very difficult decision for me but i had to go with the unknown devil.
the silver surfer has been known to annihilate entire planets but how many planets can one million exploding suns envelop?
some would point out that the sentry fought hulk to a standstill while the hulk beat the crap out of the surfer.
but norrin radd did not want to fight and was also restrained by an inhibitor as was hulk. i do not consider that a fair fight.

so i'm back to square one. i can honestly say that this has been bugging me for months but i have finally come to a decision.
the agoraphobic schizophrenic with the power of one million exploding suns will conquer the sentinel of the spaceways.

Great match Poni!

I love how in all these matches people seem incapable of seeing past brute force! Don't know much about Sentry but from what I do know (and you've said) Silver Surfer will just play with him on a sub atomic level.

There's not much out there to match Silver Surfer when you really think about it.
Wadey09
Wadey09 - 10/4/2009, 1:07 PM
@Multi but if the sentry's molecules are an instant ahead of the current timeline, would the silver surfer be able to affect his subatomic structure at all?
mr. fantastic and iron man, both who are world renowned experts in science, believe that the sentry is the most powerful hero on earth.
arguably, ss isnt a resident of earth but i am under the impression that both stark and richards took SS into account.
i also want to point out that i didn't use planet hulk to show off SS as weak but to show that we didn't get a chance to see him go all out. all of his issues, usually
depict SS as holding back.
so until marvel comes out with a Sentry vs Silver Surfer limited series, we can never really know.

I really hate The Sentry and think he is the worst Marvel character ever created and would love to see Silver Surfer blow his ass away!

From a realistic point of view though i think Silver Surfer would win - play mind games with sentry and that idiot will start crying his eyes out giving Surfer the perfect chance to throw his ass into the sun, lol! :)

@Multi - My list in this case is just that! Hero List?
I didn't even regard the hero list? I'm just putting out there the most powerful characters that are not on this planet.(excluding Xavier of course) I could ad others most of them are portionally in the SS series.. Others in the DC...

If we to add all sorts of comicbook heros then? Well...
The most power-fullest I would go with is *sigh* dbz...but I don't know if your just stating american, or all comic generas!
Wadey09
Wadey09 - 10/4/2009, 6:56 PM
@Multi:
question: if the sentry has shown the ability to implant memories into everone in the marvel universe, wouldn't that show that he has some latent telepathic powers?
if so, his mind may just be screwed up enough that he cant fully control it.
but if this is a no-holds barred brawl, he could use that power to it's fullest extent. and if he has the ability to reach every hero on earth with a thought, what chance does SS have against him?
just curious.
Wadey09
Wadey09 - 10/4/2009, 7:46 PM
but has the prof scanned the sentry's mind?
because i know that the sentry has meddled with the prof's mind without him knowing.
i can honestly say i do not know the full extent of the sentry's abilities and that is why i am backing him.

he is a variable that i would not want to underestimate in any respect. especially with his agoraphobia and his schizophrenia.

that being said, i get all your points about the silver surfer and if this was any other character he was facing i would call it a no-brainer. except for deadpool. he'd find a way.

i love both of these characters and i hate to choose.

maybe there should be like a World War Sentry just so that we could see how far he could go!

Wadey09 - 10/4/2009, 8:12 PM
LOL!!!!

Wadey09 - 10/4/2009, 9:12 PM
as long as he says that one reason he started a fight was because,"HE ATE THE LAST CHEESY PUFF!!!!!"
Wadey09
Wadey09 - 10/4/2009, 10:16 PM
you used it all blowing up zombies!
so, now deadpool has no clients, no weapons, no job, and no awesome chair made out of semtex!
he was better off with Cable!!!!!!

The Silver Surfer wins. The Silver Surfer has the "power cosmic," which includes Sentry's "power of a million exploding suns" by definition. All of the Sentry's powers can be countered or defeated by the Surfer, including his ability to exist ahead of time, since the Surfer can time travel at will.

The only thing that really holds the Surfer back from becoming an @$$-kicker is his own morality, which Poni threw out the window when posing this debate.

Furthermore, Sentry is just plain unstable. The guy's a split personality who can rarely put more than a couple sentences together.
