CASTING THE LORD OF THE LOA!

By DDD - Mar 22, 2010 07:03 AM EST

I LOVE BROTHER VOODOO! He’s a little corny but man, is he COOL,
well, to a kid like me he was! I was always intrigued by Voodoo & Zombies
REAL ZOMBIES, not these ones nowadays that eat people! Of course I
love them too! Got all of “THE NIGHT OIF THE LIVING DEAD”
movies!

BROTHER VOODOOD debuted in the pages of MARVEL’S “STRANGE
TALES”, ISSUE NO. 169, SEPTEMBER, 1973. He ran until issue 173,
APRIL, 1974.

BROTHER VOODOO’S real name is JERICHO DRUMM!

Returning to his native Haiti (born in Port au Prince) after 12-years of
education and practice as an accredited psychologist in the United States,
Jericho discovered that his twin brother, Daniel, the local HOUNGAN,
was dying, a victim of a voodoo sorcerer who claims to be possessed by the
spirit of the serpent-god DAMBALLAH. Just before he dies, Daniel
makes his brother vow to visit Daniel's mentor, PAPA JAMBO. Jericho
does, and becomes Jambo's student.

After studying under the aged Houngan for several weeks, Jericho gains
a greater mastery of voodoo practices than his own brother, becoming a
Houngan in his own right. Papa Jambo then performs a rite that
summons Daniel's spirit from the dead and joins it with Jericho's own.
Having fashioned a worthy successor, Papa Jambo dies.

Jericho challenges the priest (who goes by the same name as his god,
DAMBALLAH) and his cult. With the help of Daniel's spirit
possessing one of the cult members, Jericho removes Damballah's
artifact of power, the WANGAL, causing Damballah's snakes to turn on
him and evidently destroying Damballah's cult. Brother Voodoo become s
Haiti's Houngan supreme and champion, and establishes a sprawling
mansion as a base of operations. He places the WANGAL in a safe, its
combination known only to him.

JERICHO takes the name of BROTHER VOODOO in the original
comic but just recently he took the name “DOCTOR VOODOO” and
replaced DR. STRANGE as the SORCERER SUPREME in his own
new comic “DOCTOR VOODOO”! But oddly enough it only ran
5-Issues, too, until “IT” was canceled!

JERICHO starts out in Port au Prince but then after he defeats
DAMBALLAH he moves his HQ to a mansion in the French Quarter
in NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA! I would have him take the name,
DOCTOR VOODOO right from the start so he’s up-to-date and
relevant to today’s high-tech world! After all he “IS” a “DOCTOR”!

“DOCTOR VOODOO”, HOUNGAN SUPREME!

In my MOVIE idea JERICHO would first defeat the DAMBALLAH-
priest and his followers. Then he would take on the evil HOUNGAN,
BLACK TALON, with ZOMBIES (they aren’t the brain-eating
“MARVEL ZOMBIES” kind, they’re just the undead mindless kind,
extremely powerful, brutal, and deadly and controlled by BLACK
TALON), BLACK TALON’S followers, THE DARK LORD CULT,
and his mother MAMA LIMBO. Actually this BLACK TALON is not
really a Sorcerer, it’s his mother who’s the real sorceress who has him
snatching women from the street so she can drain off their lifeforce
and leave them shriveled dead husks, to make her young once again!

I would entitle the movie:
“DOCTOR VOODOO: LORD OF THE LOA”
(“DV:LOTL” OR “DV1” for short.)

DOCTOR VOODOO'S POWERS:
DOCTOR VOODOO is very powerful and possesses numerous mystical
and quasi-physical powers derived from “The Loa”, the spirit-gods of
voodoo. He can easily enter into a trance-like state in which he doesn’t
feel the heat from fire and his skin becomes impervious to burning. He
can also control flame and lower life forms.

He can mystically create smoke accompanied by the sound of drums.
The smoke conceals his presence while he is able to see through it.
He has the ability to command certain living things by a mystic sort
of hypnotism, most effective over animals and plants.

He can summon The Loa to request transport for himself and others
instantaneously if they deem it necessary to his mission.

DOCTOR VOODOO can also summon the spirit of his brother Daniel
Drumm from within his body, greatly increasing his own strength. He
can also send the spirit to possess another person's body and then has
total control over their actions.

He also has more mundane escapist talents, once entering a
building, not through magic, but through the chimney. He has
extensive knowledge of dark magic (Voodoo) thanks to training by Papa
Jambo, as well as conventional medicine and psychology with an M.D. in
psychology. He wears a mystic medallion that serves as a focus of his
powers and as a focus for his contact with his personal loas.
He has, at times, employed conventional firearms.

Now, I’ve mentioned on here before that I play the bass guitar & steel
guitar and write songs but I used to be in a couple of bands when I
was younger, too! So to give this fancast a little different twist, for
a change, I thought I would include the lyrics to a heavy metal song I
wrote, recorded, and performed with the band I was in many a moon ago!

I don’t have the recording anymore but I still have the lyrics (Too bad
I don’t have that recording to share here!). I know it’s probably a
little corny to you guys but it sounded pretty cool when we performed
it! I thought it went hand-in-hand with DOCTOR/BROTHER VOODOO and all
his doings with WITCH DOCTORS, ZOMBIES & VAMPIRES:

“VAMPIRE SOUL”
Pale is your skin
Dark are your eyes
Full of sin
An angel’s disguise

White are your teeth
Red are your lips
What lies beneath
You never let slip

CHORUS:
Vampire soul
You’ve taken control
You drain me dry
You fill my eyes

Vampire soul
My heart you stole
It’s my delight,
Your sacrifice
In the dead of the night

Black is your hair
Silky and sleek
My passions flare
As I touch your cheek

Sink in your fangs
I can’t resist
My death-knell clangs
As I feel your kiss

REPEAT CHORUS

(GUITAR SOLO)

REPEAT CHORUS

Now on with the casting:

{{{DOCTOR VOODOO: LORD OF THE LOA}}}

Before anyone gets their knickers in a knot 'cause Idris is already playing a
character in THOR, let me say this, "REBECCA ROMIJN played MYSTIQUE in
the X-men and also played Tom Jane's next door neighbor in JANE'S

play DOCTOR/BROTHER VOODOO too! It's not that big of a deal!"

New Orleans police detective who knows how powerful JERICHO really
is, he’s an ally of JERICHO’S!
ISAIAH WASHINGTON: “Bionic Woman”

POLICE DETECTIVE PETE HAWKINS – ISAIAH WASHINGTON

Supporting Character (Later a major enemy of DOCTOR VOODOO):

Great picks @ DDD!

Though I've got ELBA as another MARVEL character he too is cool in this, great stuff!

Dude why do you want these actors for their picks though?? ; P

Okay i'll stop lol.

Would luv to see this movie dude, kudos!

Excellent casting!

LEEE777 - 3/22/2010, 8:04 AM
P.S. Whatever happened to that BROTHER VOODO TV series MARVEL promise????

Probably where all the others like MOON KNIGHT went, in the crapper!

[frick]ing MARVEL lol, they never cared for live-action TV, unlike DC thats a decade ahead!

Amazing cast bro...

Put your fist in the air!!!

I find Idris fits this role way better than that of a Norse God. Norse folks ain't black but he's a great actor so I'm glad he's getting work.

Much Props DDD... love your display. Is it arrogant to think I inspired the "make your cast look good movement"? lol

I wouldn't change a thing and I would pay to go see a BSH-CBM... (let's see if you can guess that one lol)
DDD
DDD - 3/22/2010, 8:26 AM
Yup, Tea@ I think I get the gist that
you like this casting! Thanx! I think
your Dracula fancast goes hand in hand with my
Doc Voodoo here! We should've packaged
and presented them together! lol!

I was gonna do a 'Tomb of Drac' but you just
stuck the hell outta that one so I will never
bother! I mean Caviezel just IS Dracula!
DDD
DDD - 3/22/2010, 8:30 AM
Thanks, TANK GIRL@!
That is high praise indeed coming
from the Queen of the fancasters
with the "biggest-casting" crown!
DDD
DDD - 3/22/2010, 8:35 AM
Thanx Leee@ and I'll try to put more
descriptions in my next casting! lol

I don't know what happened to the Brother
Voodoo TV show! It would make an ideal
TV series! I would watch a B. Voodoo series
religiously! I just love the Voodoo Magic-Man!
DDD
DDD - 3/22/2010, 8:50 AM
Thanx very much REV@!

It's not arrogant REV@! But I've been trying to make my
fancasts pretty since I started doing them quite some
time ago! But we just both have such good taste is all!
lol I sure hope you inspire people to add beauty
to their fancasts! I really think you do!

Does BSH stand for Black Super Hero, REV@?
Just a guess!

But I don't see colors when
I look at superheroes I just see if they're cool
or not! Brother Voodoo, to me, is so cool
he's an Ice Berg! Yeah, Man!

Kind of the same way I look at people! If they're
cool or not!

I think what they were trying to show with
Idris is that ASGARD is kinda like heaven and
all races and peoples are represented there!

Wow. Bloody brilliant cast DDD! Never been a huge fan of the character so I wouldnt have ever attempted this cast and could never have done it as good as this. I like all of your choices and they all look perfect for the roles you've put them in! One of your best yet bud!
DDD
DDD - 3/22/2010, 9:51 AM
Thanks Josh@! I really worked like a slave on this one
in all my spare time! I wanted to do The Voodoo-man up
proud!

DDD - 3/22/2010, 9:58 AM
I am reading your stories Anyl@,
as fast as I can! Your monologues are
always so insightful and brilliant!
You have a very fertile mind, my friend!
The beginning Spidey monologue is fantastic!

Unlike my mind which just seems to turn to
FERTILIZER sometimes when I'm trying to write!
lol
DogsOfWar
DogsOfWar - 3/22/2010, 10:30 AM
Excellent job DDD!

I really can't express a difference of opinion on anything other than I like Honsou just a bit more but Elba would rock it!

Maybe have a Dr Strange cameo in here

Very well done article with music and all!

Really awesome cast DDD, I'm not very familiar with this character but I'm really interested in the less famous Marvel Comics of the 70's.
Blackreverend
Blackreverend - 3/22/2010, 11:45 AM
Correct DDD I honestly don't discriminate n I never judge a book by it's cover but I can just relate so much easier. Mind you if a character is extremely well written anyone can relate with them on some level.

Man god knows I can't wait for that Thor movie and you're totally right... We do have good taste (this wine needs a few more months of fermenting!!) lmao

Glad the love's mutual... Word.

DDD: THIS FANCAST IS OUTSTANDING...boy you guys are really stepping up your game.
Everyone from Blackrev,TANKGIRL,RYDEN,and the usuals
HAWK,LEEE777,ANIL
RICKLY,JOSHW,and a few others
things are getting interesting.

There's still a few lazy lame-o's
knocking down the good fancast with they're
5min praise me castings that dont deserve
a comment at all. I think maybe
we should just boycott the lame
fancastings altogether just dont
comment on them period.

We all know who they are.
ONCE AGAIN DDD ANOTHER
GREAT FANCAST & VERY INFORMATIVE...
the lay-out looks GREAT!!!

20CENT COMIC THOSE WERE THE DAYS!!!
peterparker420
peterparker420 - 3/22/2010, 3:31 PM
DDD- WOW NOW THIS IS A FAN CAST!!!! Great info and thanks
for all that information cause I never heard of this
comic before..I can't argue with a single one that
you picked!! great job man!
flames809
flames809 - 3/22/2010, 4:56 PM
great cast
DDD
DDD - 3/23/2010, 12:18 AM
DOGS@ I didn't put Dr. Strange in here 'cause this is
the first origins movie and Doc Strange didn't come
into it until much much later! It would be premature
to put Strange in ahead of time!

Thanx DOGS@ Hounsou would have been great for Doc Voodoo
10 years ago but I wanted someone in their mid-30's for
this origins cast, like Idris!

I thought I would put the song lyrics in there 'cause
I was getting a little bit bored with myself, just
doing castings! lol
DDD
DDD - 3/23/2010, 12:30 AM
RYDEN@ I didn't think a lot of you would be
familiar with this character, that is why I
went into such detail describing the characteristics
and storyline.

I love these obscure heroes of the 70's too and
wanted to do respect to Brother/Doctor Voodoo!

Yep, Peterparker@, thanx and you're welcome, with
the info! I wanted to make sure people who weren't
very familiar with Doc Voodoo would have an
understanding of this cool character! All it needs
is a little updating like they did in the new
Doctor Voodoo comic series and this character is
a bad ass modern Magic Man!
DDD
DDD - 3/23/2010, 12:44 AM
Yup, REV@ If people misjudge a book by it's cover
they may pass up a damm good story inside! ;D

Yeah, if a character is written well people can love it
even if it's a bit unlovable in it's subject matter like
WANTED for instance!

And Man, I am so looking forward to THOR it ain't funny!
I know Idris is gonna be kick ass as Heimdahl! Hell,
ya GOT to respect that guy when he's at the gate of
ASGARD! LOL "Yesiree! Heimdahl, SIR!" He'll be GUARD-ing
their ASSES at the RAINBOW BRIDGE very well indeed!!!
lol

And hey REV@, save me some o' that wine! lmao
DDD
DDD - 3/23/2010, 12:50 AM
Thanks very much Ozy@!

Thanks Flames! I worked very hard on this!
DDD
DDD - 3/23/2010, 1:01 AM
BLADE@, Yep, everybody is stepping up their game here!
It's good that fanfic has improved and people are getting
a better understanding of what fanfic is all about!

It's "FANFICTION"! ARTFULLY DONE WRITING, ARTFULLY DONE
CASTINGS AND ARTFULLY DONE....UHHHH....."ART"!!! LOL

Yup, BLADE@! We ol' geezers remember! 20 cent comics,
AMAZING!!! Sorta brings a tear to my eye ya know?!? ;D
BLADE44
BLADE44 - 3/23/2010, 10:23 AM
DDD- I dont know about you, but Im a young looking
44 I still got my abs. Im still at my college football
playing wgt of 265lbs and only 35lbs over my fighting wgt..pretty good for an old geezer...LOL.

OH YEA IM GOING TO START PIMPIMG MYSELF BLADE44 for
the role of the upcoming movie...LUKE CAGE!!
DDD
DDD - 3/23/2010, 2:29 PM
Cool, Blade@! I'll vote for you as Cage!

I don't look my age either but I work out too!
Probably not as much as you do but I'm in
pretty good shape! My friends and brother keep
saying I should go to Hollywood and play heavy's
'cause I'm 6'6" muscular with a shaved head.
They say I look scary and probably could get
parts easy as bikers and big bad bald guys!
lol

Just because someone's older chronologically
doesn't mean they ARE OLD or look old!
I don't look old or my age and you obviously
don't either!

My family doesn't look their age, my grandpa
lived to his 90's and still had color in his hair
when he passed!

So I wasn't callin' us old geezers per say, it's
just we remember the days when comics were 20 cents!
lol 20 cents! Unbelievable!
BLADE44
BLADE44 - 3/24/2010, 11:51 AM
DDD: I hear you I love my age and not really lookin it
and I seen a pic of you a while back...your a pretty big dude also.

Im not as tall as you Im only 6'2" but yea maybe you
should come out to CALI if getting into acting is your thing.

I've done a commerical with Deion Sanders
that aired a few years back on ESPN2 and I have several buddies I work out with that gets alot of work.

You ever heard of Melvin Anthony the pro bodybuilder he's in that movie
blood n bone with Micheal Jai White I know him and his Brother.

I also workout with this guy about your size he's a white hispanic he's 6'6" around 245-250 he was in the 200th episode of CSI. He had about a 10min part going toe to toe with Larry Fishburn.

I know this other guy that's in this sprint commerical
black guy with a afro again he's about 6'6" so yea dude
come to CALI Im sure you'd get something.

20CENTS COMICS NOW I GET EXCITED IF I SEE ONE FOR A BUCK!!!
DDD
DDD - 3/25/2010, 12:28 AM
Sounds great BLADE@! If I ever get the courage up to try out
for parts I'll look you up in Cali.! Yeah, Ive heard of Melvin
Anthony! I try and keep up with pro bodybuilding! At one time
I was working out for heavy weight lifting competition
when I was a very young whipper snapper! I met a couple
of Mr. Americas and a Mr. Olympia but I don't recall their names now! I guess the memory is the first thing to go!
lol

Ya know I think I vaguely recall that commercial on ESPN,
cool!

I remember that segment of CSI! That guy is a big dude
indeed! I'm a real 6'6" barefoot so I'm the same height as
that guy! I've got a little bit of a gut now so my abs
wouldn't be exactly like yours! lol I'm 298 lbs. now and
I used to run about 275 lbs. I'm really wide built and
have a size 38 sleeve! I have been called a shaved gorilla before! lmao

But I'm sure I could get back into fighting shape pretty
quick if I was being paid to be in better shape, as a bit
actor.

I may just come a visiting one of these days, to Cali.
;D
