FAN CAST: Batman 3

FAN CAST: Batman 3

Here are my choices for the allies and villains that could appear in the next, or future, Dark Knight movies...

JoshW: Ok, so first off I obviously wouldnt want ALL of these characters to appear in the sequel to The Dark Knight! However, characters like Barbara Gordon, Dick Grayson and Hush could all easily be introduced in Batman 3 setting them up for full blown appearences in the next trilogy should they decide to continue after the third. Even if they dont, I still think that the majority of my choices would be suitable for a non-Nolan Batman film! Anyway, on with the fan cast! :)

Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

After witnessing his parent's murder, Bruce Wayne devoted his life to standing against crime and injustice. He trained himself to surpass human physical and mental limitations, mastering combat, deduction, and the use of technology. Using his fear as a symbol, he became the Batman: arguably the world's greatest crime fighter.

ALLIES

Penn Badgley as Dick Grayson/Robin

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Batman's first partner, Dick Grayson has matured into an expert crime fighter in his own right. He is a founding member of the Teen Titans and has also lead the Outsiders and even the JLA.

Michael Caine as Alfred Pennyworth

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Alfred Thaddeus Crane Pennyworth is Bruce Wayne's (Batman's) Butler. He is one of the very few people who know that Batman is Bruce Wayne.

Gary Oldman as Commissioner Jim Gordon

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Jim Gordon was the first supporter of Batman in the Gotham PD. When he feels Batman's aid is needed on a case, he turns on the Bat signal mounted on the PD roof.

Emily Blunt as Barbara Gordon/Oracle

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Barbara Gordon was the second Batgirl. After being shot in the spine by the Joker in an attempt to make her father, Commissioner Gordon, go crazy, she reinvented herself as Oracle, cyber-genius of the Suicide Squad and leader of the Birds of Prey.

Carla Gugino as Selina Kyle/Catwoman

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Selina Kyle is the Catwoman, a mostly reformed cat burglar with an on-again, off-again, romantic relationship with the Batman, who she now knows is Bruce Wayne. She is shown as strong willed, independent and a little temperamental.

Brandon Routh as Clark Kent/Superman

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Superman is one of the few surviving Kryptonians that resides on Earth as Clark Kent, Reporter for the Daily Planet, while protecting the city of Metropolis.

ENEMIES

James Franco as The Joker

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The man known only as The Joker is Batman's greatest enemy. He is chaos in a three piece, a force of nature bent on proving one simple thing; everything burns. Arkham doctors believe he is not truly insane, but is gifted with some kind of heightened sanity.

Billie Piper as Harley Quinn

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Harleen Quinzel, the Arkham psychiatrist who fell in love with the Clown Prince of Crime. A "mad love" would lead her to a life of crime as Harley Quinn, frequent accomplice and would-be-girlfriend of the Joker.

Johnny Depp as The Riddler

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The Riddler, crowned king of conundrums and a criminal mastermind, had once plagued the Dark Knight of Gotham with his ingenious mind games.

Philip Seymour Hoffman as The Penguin

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Intelligent, rich and sophisticated; the Penguin is a distinctive villain in Batman's gallery of foes.

John Malkovich as Mr. Freeze

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Mr. Freeze was originally called Mr. Zero and was intended to be a gimmick character. After appearing in Batman: the Animated Series, Mr. Freeze soon became a serious enemy for Batman.

Mark Strong as Black Mask

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Roman Sionis, now Black Mask is a sadistic crime-king who now lords over almost all of Gotham's organized crime.

Guy Pierce as Deadshot

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Deadshot is the greatest known mercenary in the world. He's known to never miss and always get the job done, but as of lately it appears he made be shifting to a more heroic side of the law.

Eva Green as Poison Ivy

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

One of Batman's greatest villains, her obsession and devotion to plant life are the means behind her life of crime and her movement to protect and preserve nature at any cost.

Javier Bardem as Bane

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

"The Man Who Broke the Bat, "He is more than just brawn but he is not always the villain either. He has recently joined the new Secret Six, where you see he has a strict code of honour and can be quite heroic.

Mickey Rourke as Killer Croc

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Waylon Jones was born with a mutation giving him reptile skin, sharp claws and teeth. He was an undefeated boxer who soon retired and then became one of the most dangerous Batman's rogues.

Ben Foster as Mr. Zsas

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Mr. Zsasz carves a tally mark in himself whenever he kills someone.

Kevin Tighe as Arnold Wesker/The Ventriloquist

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

A meek, quiet man, Arnold Wesker plans and executes his crimes through a dummy named Scarface, with the dress and persona of a 1920s gangster, complete with pinstripe suit, cigar, and Tommy gun.

Matthew Fox as Hush

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Thomas Elliot is a renowned surgeon and childhood friend of Bruce Wayne's. A meticulous planner, Elliot resents the fact that Bruce's father inadvertently thwarted his plot to kill his parents.

Damn @ JOSH thumbs up from me buddy!!

Yes to BALE, ROUTH, and DEPP!! Kudos on the BLACK MASK pic too, great minds eh lol!

Only one i dislike is EVA GREEN, don't like her much for some reason lol, must be coz shes French! : P

Joke lol! ; D

Like 'em all dude, but CRISPIN GLOVER for JOKER!!!

Oh yeah MATTHEW FOX = BARRY ALLEN! ; p

But thumbs up man, one of your best yet!!

P.S. Damn, i'm actually working on a BATMAN 3 as we speak, been doing it on an off for the last few days, but then again, this is more a BAT casting than the BATMAN 3 movie, bit too many peeps lol, so its all cool! : D

P.P.S. No UPDATING!!! UPDATE KING! ; D
McLovin
McLovin - 2/11/2010, 1:33 PM
Very cool. But I say no to Robin no matter who plays him. Robin needs to stay the *#%$ away from any and all live action Batman movies. Great job on the other characters though Josh ;-)
Phinehas
Phinehas - 2/11/2010, 1:36 PM
Franco, Glover, or Gordon-Levitt are definitely good choices for Joker, while Routh is a waste of page space.

Good job there, Josh!

Logan Lerman-Dick Grayson

bleedthefreak16: Thanks! Franco would most definitely give a brilliant and unique take on the character!

LEE: Thanks bud! :) So, you cast Strong as Black Mask as well!? Great minds indeed! I apprecaite you saying that this is one of my best especially as I dont do that many DC casts - there's been a lot of Batman comic books I've enjoyed though which might be why this is better than my Superman cast (Sam Worthington for Superman = WTF? Lol!)

I look forward to seeing your Batman 3 cast! As I just said, I dont do that many DC casts which is a big reason why I included so many characters in this one!

McLovin: Cheers dude! Lol, it probably isnt a good idea to bring Robin into the franchise because unless it was done right it would just be done badly! Still, if they could do it well it would be great to see Robin on the big screen!

Phinehas: Yeah, I agree with you there! No one could (or should) imitate Ledger's iconic performance but any of those actors would sure do an amazing job! But thanks dude, glad you like the cast!

NightAvenger4: Thanks man! :) I was going to cast Lerman but I've already used him as Peter Parker so I decided to go with someone else! Great choice with Greene - I went with Blunt because I based this more on Oracle than Batgirl! Levitt as Joker? Yeah, I could definitely see that!

Ah, good point about Mark Strong! A lot of this cast was put together a couple of months ago so I made that choice before he was cast in that role...a pity because I think he's perfect for Black Mask!

grif: [frick] you. :)

superheromoviefan: I think Franco would nail it but I'm pleased you like the rest so thanks man! Its funny you should single those specific choices out because they're some of my favourites as well!

scarface: Thanks dude, Franco is perfect for the role IMO! That would actually be a great way to start off the next movie! With the way The Dark Knight ended, I can see things getting even more dark and brutal in the next movie!
sansClaymore
sansClaymore - 2/11/2010, 2:06 PM
a robin or catwoman would ruin any 3rd movie. malkovich would make a better riddler, depp will never be in a bat movie. and the return of lliam neeson as alghoul would not only make more sense than trying to recast the joker but tie up loose ends from the 1st flick. as for the rest the only agreeable few would be the current cast in there respective roles ie. gordon, alfred etc. dont expect the croc or freeze or any other character that is not grounded in reality, which is the formula for this new franchise, the last thing we need are hokey villains. and thumbs up to hoffman as the penguin, but only if hes made to be a gangster mob boss of sorts that takes over the "crime family" in gotham.
P.S. no rubber flippers they call him the penguin because of his suits and his menacing laugh.

GRIF @ Time to get laid buddy! ; D

Cool @ JOSH and it is, very well done and yeah i cast STRONG in my recent one though im thinking, well infact cast someone else for him in my new cast, only because it sounds as if STRONG has got the SINESTRO part, but still hoping WB see sense an cast WEAVING! ; p

JOSH @ Maybe you should explain to people here it isn't actually for a BATMAN 3 but the franchise of many movies! It is right??

Did you just put in EMILY BLUNT lol?? Not that im complaining, i was going to cast her in my recent one but as at the time cast her as JEAN i decided not to lol. I think i cast KATE MARA, i think, anyway BLUNT would be great!

By the way though, talking ROBIN, you do know HUSH used to be a ROBIN right?

Man, when we get HUSH in a movie that'll be something dude!!
sansClaymore
sansClaymore - 2/11/2010, 2:17 PM
P.S.S. franco may resemble that pic of the joker but NO. several reasons, his resemblance to ledger w/or w/out makeup is just not there. he doesnt have the chops to pull off anything resembling ledgers iconic treatment. and other than the dooshbag playing the green lantern and the deadpool respectively, no-one should cross over the D.C. marvel gap, its just not right. besides after marvels aquisition of its own production company it is quite clear they are looking to keep all of there actors "in the family" so to speak and franco was obviously in the spiderman movies.

sansClaymore @ Cripin Glover for Joker!!! : P

And DEPP is a perfect RIDDLER dude!
sansClaymore
sansClaymore - 2/11/2010, 2:24 PM
lmao crispen glover? you cant be serious!!! i can see him as andy warhol in the doors movie , even as the frikken weirdo from the charlies angels flick. but mcfly senior is in no way shape or form a man who could even act as though he were a villain able to do anything serious to the bat. just sayin. crispen glover hahahahahahahaha (shaking my head).
InTylerWeTrust
InTylerWeTrust - 2/11/2010, 2:26 PM
Now that I think about it, Ben Foster would probably make a killer Joker. I think he's one of the few actors I can see doing near or even just as amazing a job as Heath did.
sansClaymore
sansClaymore - 2/11/2010, 2:29 PM
@ leee777 and @ anil rickly depp is too highly paid to sit next to bale. he would overshadow his performance. not to mention the budget, but who knows. i do think IF he were... he could definately pull it off no question hes a brilliant actor BUT, as i said before depp will never be in a bat movie period. wont happen.
ecksmanfan
ecksmanfan - 2/11/2010, 2:32 PM
Interesting choice for Joker. I can see where you're coming from on that one. I like Gordon Levitt for the role, but I'd rather them just not include the Joker. I'm torn on Robin/Grayson. I'd like to see Nolan's take on the character, but I'm also very nervous to see him on the big screen again. I think they'd have to alter the character so much from his comic origins to make him acceptable. I don't know..

@Tyler- You're right. Foster would be a great choice!
sansClaymore
sansClaymore - 2/11/2010, 2:36 PM
there is no batman w/out the joker but sadly the guy is dead R.I.P. not as far as the movie goes, sure, there will undoubtedly be reference to him or even a chance of seeing him again in the third flick but it will be ledgers head digitized over another actors body or simply clips from the dark knight, not some other two bit actor, or even a big name actor for that matter. depp "WOULD" kill as either the joker or the riddler but as far as the joker is concerned consistancy will beat out any attempt to remake him in another actors shoes. as for the riddler, i stand by my opinion that malkovich would be the best choice for chris nolan if he could scoop him up.
1chris2
1chris2 - 2/11/2010, 2:52 PM
i havent read any of the others post but anyways great great casting one of the best ive seen. if they use dick grayson dont use him as robin,he should take over for batman later in the films and just skip the whole robin thing,it doesnt work for the films.not sayin it couldnt but it has to be thought out very well. great cast man.
JoshWilding
JoshWilding - 2/11/2010, 2:56 PM
sansClaymore: Thanks - I have to say that I disagree with a lot of what you say though, especially about Franco. Whoever plays The Joker next shouldnt try to imitate Ledger's brilliant performance in either looks or personality. That would just be insulting IMO - Franco most definitely has the acting abiltiy to give an excellent and unique performance.

And having, "...ledgers head digitized over another actors body" - would not be right. The man is dead, he gave an amazing performance but doing something like that would just be an insult to his memory. If they want to bring the character back then just do it with another actor who will give their own take on it! Look how much Brandon Routh got critisized for imitating Christopher Reeves!

LEE: LMAO!!! :D

I've said that this is for a third movie and following sequels at the top of the article! Any of these villains could be used in Batman 3 and a lot of them and the allies could be just introduced ready for the next trilogy! Emily Blunt was in it from the moment I posted it - she'd make a great Jean as well though on the Marvel side of things!

Are you sure about Hush? He's Thomas Elliot isnt he? I've read the Batman: Hush graphic novel and I dont see anything on his Wikipedia page about him ever being Robin!

TYLER: Thanks bud! :) Great idea with Ben Foster...I could definitely see that working!

ANIL: Well, its a bit of a mixture really! In my opinion, most of these casting choices would work in a Nolan directed Batman 3 and the majority would work just as well, if not better, in a non-Nolan Bat flick!

ecksmanfan: Thanks - I get where you're coming from because after Ledger's brilliant performance it would be hard to bring The Joker back without comparisons being made etc! Nolan's take on Robin would probably be excellent but Robin is one of those characters where it would either end up being really great or [frick]ing awful, lol! ;)
1chris2
1chris2 - 2/11/2010, 2:58 PM
oohhhh and great pick for the joker. i never even thought of franco. but he could actually pull it off look at spiderman 3 remember his scene were he went from smiling to f@#ing pi$$+d. if not him then ben foster should be joker. i know a lot of people are touchy about the joker being in another movie but they need to use him. its a film, its sad what happened to heath but you have to move on and use the joker. p.s heath was greatand im not trying to be cruel,i just want to see more joker.
JoshWilding
JoshWilding - 2/11/2010, 3:03 PM
1chris2: Thank dude, I appreciate that! :) You make a good point about Grayson...maybe it would be good to have him as Robin for a short while and get to the Nightwing stuff a lot quicker than the comic books did!

That scene from Spider-Man 3 comes to mind every time I think about Franco as The Joker! Its just a pity that movie never gave him the chance to go full on Green Goblin!

And I actually completely agree with you about The Joker - Heath gave an amazig performance that will be remembere forever but there is no reason the cant use The Joker again...they just need to make sure they dont try to imitate Heath and allow the next actor to give their own unique take on the character as well!

@Josh-Good job man

Like Batman, very original lol. Dont worry i like it.

Cool pick for Dick Grayson, but i think he's too pretty boy for it. I like Thomas Dekker for it.

I think Emily Blunt is too old for Batgirl.

I dont think Gugiano should be in this movie. She was already in a DC property. but she could pull it off.

James Franco is a cool Joker pick. Proved his lunacy in Pineapple Express but also has a serious side.

Never seen your Harley Quinn pick before.

I like David Tennant for Riddler, but Depp could do it as well.

Don't really like Hoffman for Penguin. Hes might fit the role, but i dont really like him as an actor.

I was actually going to cast Guy Pearce for my Batman cast. Good pick.

Ivy and Bane are good.

I think Rourke is too old for Killer Croc. I like Wesely Snipes for Killer Croc

Zasz has already been choosen in the series. So if they did him they would probably pick the guy in Batman Begins.

Don't know your Ventriloquist pick.

Cool Hush pick. But i think he needs to look a little more...i dont know... just not Matt Fox looking lol.

Great cast man. Check out my Spider-Man cast if you haven't. If you can

@joshW- no prob, thats why this is a great fan fic!! i love seeing and hearing others thoughts on what they would like to see in the next bat movie/movies. it makes for great opinions and i love to read others ideas. and god forbid they digitize his head!!! i was just giving my impression of what would sell the idea of seeing the joker again,i happen to be a computer animator knowing full well it would never happen, what i was intending to convey was that they will not be using the joker again, its sad but they wont, i believe they would rather skirt around it and bring other villains to the forefront. however what i originally said was that they may very well indeed HINT to his character thru usage of clips from the dark knight or even cgi trickery(ie. him in a padded cell at arkham) not that the character would have a major role. just that they would most likely keep ledgers take on it as the canon, and to not sully or disrespect him by using another actor, they would instead use ledgers/joker image for any and all interpretations in this franchise. and franco is a great actor but he could never top ledgers performance, or even attempt to do his own take, without leaving millions of bat fans stampeding theaters with torches and pitchforks however "excellent" or "unique" it may be. that being said i believe he needs to stay with marvel if he intends to do any CBM's in the future as i stated before the crossover would be treacherous and seem downright treasonous to CBM fans, you seem to forget they are competing comicbook icons(D.C./Marvel)with die-hard fans, despite that troll from van wilders' green lanter/deadpool travisty(dont wanna go there right now lol). no instead franco would only ever be the joker if the franchise is once again rebooted, and furthermore would probably not at all regardless of the similarity of his mug and the jokers.
but keep them coming, id like to see more folks ideas on who would be a good joker if they ever decide to do a --3RD-- modern reboot. believe me u will see alghoul come back before we ever see the joker again period!!!
P.S.after his role in pineapple express people have seemed to peg franco as some kind of stoner, wich would makes me wonder if thats the case, than christian bale must go around at night in a cape trying to foil bank robberies and muggings. it was an act people hence the word "actor". regardless he may blow bones daily but that doesnt make him a stoner, it makes him smart, as most drug using actors are into actual "drugs" and not herbal remedies lmao!!!

btw my avatar is a drawing i did in pencil, taking sole inspiration from ledgers portrayal of the joker as described in print well before the first spoiler pic of him dropped on the web. it said he would be sporting the mark of the squealer(paraphrasing).but i think i went a wee bit far, as you can see the wounds are still fresh looking, not scar tissue. and i thought this is what he would look like. regardless the actual scar was fantastic and creepy as hell with all that clown makeup.

Fantastic cast @Josh!

Really like the James Franco Joker pick!
Never thought of him for Joker but
he would do a great job!
I think he is one of the best young actors
around today!

No one can do the Joker exactly the way
Heath did, then it would just be
an impression! I can see Franco doing
it but with his own twist to it, to
carry the character on further!

JoshWilding - 2/12/2010, 9:09 AM
BatmanKnight: Cheers dude, I'm grateful for the detailed feedback! You make some great points and although i obviously would like to see these actors in the roles I've cast them in, I actually cant argue with any of your alternative casting choices!

Billie Piper (Harley Quinn) is a British actress who was in Doctor Who and the guy who I've picked for Ventriloquist, I only know from Lost! (though I think he has also been in quite a lot of other stuff as well!) I'll make sure to check out your Spidey fan cast as soon as I get chance! :)

OZY: Thanks! I wondered whether you had posted it by mistake as it was pretty short! Why were you even writing it if you werent ready to post it though, lol!?

RockNRollCC: Thanks - they're two great casting choices that I'd be just as happy to see in the roles as my picks!

jimthefan: Thanks!

PETE: Thanks a lot dude, I really appreciate that! And you make a really good point - its going to be near impossible for anyone to top Ledger's take on The Joker so a lot of actors will probably want to avoid being cast in the role! Whatever they do, I really hope we get to see The Joker back on the big screen sometime in the near future!

LEE: Ah, I thought so! :) However, you werent actually wrong because Jason Todd (Red Hood) did pretend to be Hush at one point, lol!

seanxvito: What is it you need help with? Creating the article? Making the pictures? Just email me and I'll be happy to help!

DDD: Thanks bud! :) That's exactly my thoughts on Franco as The Joker - he's the kind of actor that would really give his own amazing, unique take on the character!

tea: Lol, thanks mate! LMAO, I know what you mean...Oracle and Catwoman would make one helluva double team! ;) Yup, being the meat in that particular sandwich would be quite something!
JoshWilding
JoshWilding - 2/12/2010, 9:17 AM
sansClaymore: Lol, hey - no worries man! As I've said before, if we all agreed then this would be a pretty boring site! :) And I completely understand where you're coming from! As Ledger's performance was so iconic, it would probably be for the best if they do use another, completely different villain in the next movie and just hinting at the character being in Arkham or wherever in the ways you've said would probably work out briliantly!

To be honest, I think that any actor whether its Franco, Depp or even an unknown will be able to top Ledger...and even if they do his performance was so memorable and iconic, no one would probably realise, lol! I really would like to see the character back on the big screen one day soon though regardless of whether he's played by my choice of Franco!

Haha, all Franco's role in Pineapple Express showed me was what a great, diverse actor he is! :D Your avatar looks great - you should think about posting it up as fan art! (if you have already and I didnt see it, I apologise! I spend so much time making these casts I rarely get chance to check out anything other than news on CBM!)

damn batman 3 is going to have alot of characters! haha. no jk good stuff really. i LOVE matthew fox as hush - thats a great one. - and i agree they do need t start a new trilogy after this one. all of the batman films have taken place within like a year - so by the time the third one is over we'll just be getting into what's good about batman. we havent even seen the batcave proper yet!

my fan cast is guy pierce as mr freeze tho. but nice to see him getting some love on your page. but i thinkhis talents would be wasted as deadshot. i would basically just want his attitude as Count Mondago if he were to play freeze. mondago was a bastard!

and i think Daniel Day-Lewis MIGHT MIGHT MIGHT MIGHT be able to pull off heath's joker. he has the talent but i just can't picture it. for some reason i can picture jospeh gordon leavitt tho - basically anyone with 3 names sign them up!

EDIT: i just went back and read some of the posts: i think you HAVE to try to imitate heaths joker. unless you recast bruce wayne. but i think it needs to be as close to the original as possible. i bet theres at leat one actor out there who can do it.

nice cast i just dont like your Batgirl, or your Robin. both look to old for those parts. but your Robin could make a good Nightwing
